JUDGE MILLS SCORES JURY Court Incensed When Verdict of Not Guilty is Returned in Robbery Case. Raton, N. M., Oct., 3. "How a body of American men, after hearing the evidence in this case, could bring in a verdict of not guilty is more than I can see. One thing is certain, and that is that you have shown your-' selves unfit and incompetent to serve this court in any capacity. The jury ' discharged for this term of court." With these words, Judge W. J. Mills, who has been holding district court for Colfax county, showed his displeasure at the verdict rendered in the case of the Territory vs. J. G. Garland, who was on trial for robbery. It is hinted that the jury was tam pered with, and it' Is understood that an investigation is being made by the court. This same jury freed several defendants during this term of court where the evidence pointed to a con viction, and it is generally believed here that the jury was "fixed." But by whom Is not known, and rumor has not as yet connected any one person with the affair. iwoop-DAyBi 3 HARDWARE COMPANY I : Phone 14. Phone 14.
