Richard S. Blevans, brother of
Mrs. J. W. Purcell, arrived in Santa
Fe last night from Vancouver, Wash
ington, and ia a guest at the Presby
terian manse. He may decide to lo
cate here.
Mr. and Mrs. William B. Prince, of
the Prince Sunshine Ranch, north of
Espanola, have arrived here and will
spend the winter at the home of
their parents, Hon. and Mrs. L.
Bradford Prince.
Hon. James M. Freeman, one of the
leading lawyers of northern Colorado,
has been a guest during the week at
the Palace hotel, and will remain
here until Monday. He is interested
In a land grant In Rio Arriba county.
Carl Barney, of Denver, Colorado, Is
in the city on a visit to his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Barney. He has
just recovered from a severe attack of
fever, and came here to recuperate
and at the same time enjoy a vaca
tion. Hon. and Mrs. Arthur Sellgman
are preparing for an eastern visit of
a month's duration which they will
spend principally in New York City
and at Cleveland, Ohio. They will
likely leave about the middle of the
coming month.
Mrs. H. P. Christensen, mother of
ivirs. C. C. Catron, and Miss Julia
Christensen, is preparing to pay her
daughters in this city a visit, and is
expected to arrive here from Los An
geles, her home, during the early
part of January.
Judge Henry L. Waldo, solicitor of
the Santa Fe Railway for New Mexi
co, was a guest today at the Palace
hotel. He was In the city on legal
and financial business. The judge
was for many years a resident of this

Hon. Solomon Luna, president of
the Bank of Commerce at Albuquer
que, who has been In Washington In
attendance at the sessions of the Re
publican national committee, return

in the national capital Mr. Luna called
upon President Roosevelt, Secretary
Garfield, Postmaster General Von
Meyer and also interviewed Speaker

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel G. Cartwright
will entertain at a dancing party at
the Palace hotel on Tuesday evening
next in honor of Major Paul F. Straub
U. S. Army, who is a brother of Mrs.
Cartwright. Major Straub stopped off
in this city for a short visit with his
sister while en route from the City of
Mexico where he has been as a dele
gate from the United States army at
the international sanitary conference
which was held there for the purpose
of discussing yellow fever and other
kindred diseases which prevail In
Central and South America. Steps
were taken at this conference looking
to stamping out these terrible plagues
one of the principal of which will be
a general campaign of "house clean
ing" with a view to Improving the
