At a meeting of the committee of
seven named by the Merchant a asso
ciation to take action in the matter of
suits to enjoin the county assessor
from making the raises ordered by the
state board of equalization, several
sub-committees were appointed. One
of these committees will have charge
cf the raising of a fund for this work,
by collecting $1.00 from each of the
merchants. Another committee will go
over the tax rolls with a view to deter
mining in whose names the suits
should be brought. It was also decid
ei to file test cases in the district
court, prior to November 28th, at
which date the Chaves county case
comes up in the supreme' court. It
was mentioned that suits in the taxa
tion matter had been filed' in Chaves,
