The chapel of San Miguel was built be tween 163B and 1680. In the latter years the Indians destroyed it. ully restored in 1711, it had previously, and after 1693, been the only Spanish chapel in Santa Fe. It still remains the oldest cnurcn in use in New Mexico. The walls of the old cathedral date in part from 1622 ; but the edifice proper is from the past century. Old Fort Marcy was first recognized and used as a strategic military point by the Pueblo Indians when they revoltod against Spanish rule in 1680 and drove out the enemy after besieging the city for nine days. The American army under Kearney constructed old Fort Marcy in 1846. A , Fort Marcy of the present day Is gar risoned by two companies of the 10th U. 8. infantry, under command of Col.
