One of the largest cargoes of cotton to be carried from a gulf port this season was shipped today on the Brit ish steamer Lord Stanmore, which took out clearance papers for Bremen. The cargo consists of 12,800 square bales and 300 round bales, a tqtal of 13.100 bales, which has a valuation of *681, 818. With the exception of the cargo shipped some weeks ago on the steam er August Belmont the shipment is the largest to go from this port this sea son. gale of City Bonds. Steps toward issuing and offering for sale Improvement bonds to tiie amount of *450.000 were taken by ine City Council last night, when notice was given that an ordinance would be In troduced at the next meeting giving authority for the sale of bonds. The purposes for which the bonds are to be Issued are $100,000 ror street paving and improving; *100.000 for sewerage and drainage and $250,000 for the pur chase or erertton of a water works plant and the necessary equipment. It will be some weeks before the sale of the bonds occurs. The Issue has already been authorized, and a portion of 'the bonds for the construction of the city hall and the sewerage and drainage system, sold, and It is now the Intention to dispose of the remain der and continue the improvement 1 work. Two Indictments Returned. The grand jure of the circuit court, which has been In session for the past three days, adjourned this morning ut ter making its final presentment to the court. The Jury returned onl> two true bills one against a negro man tor the murder of a negro woman, and the other against James Ardis, a negro, fl,‘ the murder last lear of Police Officer Rurnham at the union depot. The negro Is still at large, making his eseane after firing the shot that took the officers life. The Jury stated in Its presentment that It had investi gated Other cases, but that In all mis demeanors the names of the witnesses had been given to the state attorney to he presented to the county solicitor for whatver action he might deem proper in the eases. p arrival of the Bremen. The United States customs officials ' lave been officially notified bj the Oer nan government that the German cruiser Bremen will reach Pensacola / on January~31st' for a visit until Feb ruary 9th. It has been known for Bev oral days that the cruiser would visit the port, but the date was heretofore not definitely known. The cruiser is to visit a number of gulf ports, having; on board a large number of -appren tices and sailors who are out on a training cruise.
