Saturday night most every body that went to or from Douglas to ; Treadwell took the beach road as the water was so high in the tlume ! it was dangerous to cross. Tak-' ing It In all "the Orpheum Is there with the show." There was a large crowd at the Armstrong & Brown's roller rink last night. All the people on the island that have been sick with the fever are im proving nicely. Gabriel Paul was a Douglas visitor this morning. Mrs. John King and son will leave on the next trip of the Alki for Med ford. Ore., to spend the winter. She also will be accompanle d by her mother, Mrs. laimbrlx. Blakely arrived up on the Humboldt Saturday night. To an Empire representative Mr. Blakely said: "We have bought the little 20-stamp mill that was down at Smttlsham and we shall remove it and set it up on our Taku property. We have held aud developed this property for the past 10 years, and it looks good to uh. It is our inten tion to continue the development and by mill work demonstrate the real worth of the property. "This country," continued Mr. 1 Blakely, "is hound to move forward. We think it has a great future and we want to do what we can to help ' build it up. The Yukon scheduled to arrive from the Westward today had not report ed this morning. The Georgia arrived from Sitka and way ports this morning. The fishing Bchooner Anita Phil lips has left Juneau and is shipping from Hoonah. Several of the fishing fleet arrived In yesterday with modest catches of halibut. The Dolphin is expected from the South tomorrow. The Georgia sailed for Skagway and way ports at 1:30 today.
