O'CONNOR Latest Novelties in Tobacco Jars and Pipe Racks at Burford's REV. FATHER BROWN'S INVOCATION The following is the invocation of Rev. Father Brown, at the opening session of the House of Repre sentatives, yesterday: It is meet and just, 0, God, that here on the threshold of the house of our future greatness, to which we have put our hand to build, that we ask knowledge that Thou art the Chief Builder and Watchery and without Thee our work is vain. Guide and assist our labor lest a babel of confusion result. Teach us, too, since we have not here a lasting city, to build not for time only but for eternity. We pray Thee, 0 God of might, wisdom and justice, through whom authority is rigidly ad ministered, laws are created, and judgment de creed, assist with Thy Holy Spirit of counsel and fortitude the members of the first Legislature of Alaska that their work may be conducted in righteousness and be eminently useful to Thy people. Set the light of Thy divine wisdom, direct all their deliberations and shine forth in all the proceedings and laics framed for our ride and government; so that they may tend to the pres ervation of peace, the promotion of happiness, the increase of industry, sobriety and useful knowledge, and may perpetuate to us the bless ings of equal liberty. 0, God, bless Alaska and Alaska's First Legislature, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Boston Girl, Aged Ten I Describes Hidden Things BOSTON. Feb. 15. A number of testy made by Prof. Hugo Munster berg of Harvard. Dr. llvslop of Colum bia. Dr. Henry W. Hopkins, and others, of the mental state of Beulah Miller, the ten-year-old girl of Warren, R. I., who accurately locates and describes hidden things, are described by a Bos-! ton American dispatch. Dr. Hopkins makes an aflldavit in which he says: "1 began the test of turning the stone of my ring inside my hand, put-: ting my hand in my pocket. When Buelah same in from another room I asked her what I had in my left hand. She readily said. * A diamond.' I then put my hand in my right pocket, and asked her what I had in my right1 hand. She said 'Purse,' which was correct. 1 took a coin in my right hand while it was still in ray pocket and said: ?Beulah, what have 1 in my right hand now?' She said. 'Quarter.' I said: Now, Beulah, if you will tell me the figures on the coin it is yours.' She answeder T?9?0?S,' and the quarter was hers. I then opened the case of my watch and looked at the number of the movement, closed the case, and put the watch buck in my pocket. I asked Beulah if she could tell me the number of the watch move ment. She said '5?8?4?9?8?4.' These were the actual figures." Dr. Hopkins also took his watch from his pocket, and, holding it con cealed asked her the time. Her reply was accurate. She named cards as they were ta ken from a pack, told just where in the pack each card was, and in every way met the tests made by Dr. Hop kins. .Mrs. .Mary Rash of Brooklyn then endeavored to elicit from the girl wrong answers as to a variety of ques tions, but in vain. Judge .Mason of Warren also made an afiidavit of tests he made. One of the he described thus: "I wrote a name on a pad. turned the pad upside down, and placed it upon a table, and asked Beulah if she could tell what I written. She told me correctly. I repeated it two or three times, receiving an accurate reply each tim City of Juneau-Delinqueint Taxes The following list contains the names of the persons and description of the property delinquent.
