The meeting of the Treadwell tire men will take place Thursday evening on account of the ball game tonight. The meeting will take place at eight o'clock and important business trans acted. four reels of motion pictures will lie shown. The Douglas Island baseball team will leave on the 5:4f> ferry to battle with Juneau. A large crowd of root ers will accompany the team. They expect to bring home the bacon. An executive com mittee consisting of Mayor M. J. O' Connor. Charles Price, Charles A. Mopp, Jack Henson and Mr. Dahl was chosen, and committees were selected on sports, music and other features. JEFF DAVIS GOES FLOATING ALONG Jeff Davis, has taken passage on the City of Seattle for Skagway and from thence will take the train to White horse. From Whitehorse he will em bark in a small boat and tloat down the mighty Yukon. It is his idea to prospect and hunt along the way, tak ing life easy. F. Everette, the architect, left for Seattle on the Alameda last night. o?o?o SON OF DR. RATION BECOMES A CATHOLIC PRINCETON. N. J.?Paul Pattou. son of the Rev. I)r. Francis L. Patton, formerly president of the Princeton University and who resigned recently as president of Princeton Theological Seminary, has become a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church, it was announced here. The announcement was confirmed by Dr. Patton. The fact caused the most profound sensation, principally in view of the fact that the young man's father has been considered a foremost educator in the Presbyterian church. As soon as it was known here that Paul Patton, who is 32 years old and in the service of the British govern ment as an engineer in Bermuda, had been converted to the Catholic faith, certain persons attributed to this fact the recent retirement of Dr. Patton from the presidency of the seminary. The Humboldt will arrive Saturday next from the South. The Al-Kl will arrive from Seattle June 14.
