A short time ago Capt Cann made a haul of 1,000 barrels with a | purse seine 65 feet long. Ho valued 1 the haul at $10,000. ? ? ? Under the leadership of Rev. W. H. Zeigler, of the Episcopal church of that place, the people of Valdez have erected and furnished a free reading room and club house for tho people of j ; that city. A sufficient sum has been | subscribed to meet the expenses of tho club. Tho house was built on the Episcopal church lot, which is conven ! iently located for the use of the peo ple. "Everyman's Club" is the uamo of the new institution. ? * * The fall of snow for this season to j the end of December at Fort LiBCum, Valdez bay, was 198.6 inches. This has been exceeded twice since the record started at the military post in 1900. In that year the snowfall to December 31 was 219.5 Inches. In 1902, "the winter of big snow," it was 241.9 inches. The December snowfall for 1913 has been exceeded only once. ^ I.ast month it was 135.3 inches. In !? 1909 it was 157.8 Inches.
