day. having arrived last evening.
Amateur night tonight at the Lyric
theatre.
A large crowd greeted the "Man
from Home" at the Lyric last night
The performance waa well*received,
Leo Stadler. formerly manager of
the Hunter hotel, has returned to
Douglas after an absence of a cou
ple of years . which ho has spent In
the Atlantic coast cities.

A BEAUTIFUL EVENT

DOUGLAS. May 20.?The trawberry
festival and sale of fancy work given
' last night by the young ladles of the
Alaska Catholic Club was one of the
, most enjoyable events of the season.
\ continuous stream of people from
funcau. Sreadwell and Douglas came
and went from two o'clock in the af
ternoon till elevetrat night The beau
tiful donations given by generous
friends and well wishers caught every
ole and the chance-sellers had an easy
time. His Lordship. Mayor M.
. Connor, put more than Is usual en
thusiasm into the auction sale. The
j ycung ladies proved themselves as
expert entertainers as the veteran
members of the club. The grand suc
I ecss of the event is due in great part
to the Ladies' Auxilliary-. ably asisst
ed by the untiring activity of Mrs.
Brie. An enjoyable dance closed the
pvfulng and good plght was said only

10:30 were made man and wife by Rev.
