J LEAVE FOR LONG SOJOURN AT FEDERAL PENITENTIARY Ramon Gomez, who for the past four years has actually passed three and a half years in the jails of the First Division of Alaska, and was convicted recently of larceny in a dwelling, loft this'afternoon on the Alameda for the south on his way to the Federal penitentiary at McNeil's Island where ho will re main for the next five years. K. Tanakee, who was convicted of sell ing whiskey to Indians, was also sent south and will serve one year (at McNeils. Efficient SERVICE RUSSIAN BUSINESS MEN EGILED THROUGH PLOT KIEF, Nov. 13.?To sot rid of four successful competitors, some merchants forged an order by the governor of the city condemning their rivals to banishment to Si beria. Vhe police fell into the trap, or were bribed, with the re Buit that the unfortunate men were arrested and sent into exile. Later the plot was revealed through the indiscretion of some of the plotters, and the relatives of the condemned men got wind of the truth, although for three months their urgent appeals had been ig nored. The men have now been re leased, and everybody is wondering how the authorities could have l>een taken in. Alice M.
