The first shipment of trout eggs arrived from the south on a recent boat and are being hatched ti Thane under the direction of an ifflclal from the Fisheries Bureau, I who accompanied the eggs north. Several months ago the manage ment of the Gastineau Company and ! ot.oers requested the Department for ?rout eggs to stock the lakes, as Mere were no fish In either. The 3ggs are of the Eastern Brook trout md were secured In Colorado from jne of the largo hatcheries. The 'irst shipment which arrived the ?>ther day consisted of 170,000 eggs. The old compressor house at Thane las been fitted up for a hatchery and as soon as the fry are large -noifch they will be planted. It is thought that more of the lit tle fellows will reach maturity than 's usual as neither of the lakes to he stocked have any fish in them, tnd there is nothing to prey on the mall fry, except each other. A second shipment of eggs is ex pected on one of the next boats and after their arrival they will be hatched and planted in one of the 'akes.
