C, received 13,000 in cash to be used in sixty scholarships for aiding needy and worthy young men in securing a first class col Incriato education at that institu- o - tion. Two scholarships are to be as signed to each Presiding Elder's dis trict of the North Carolina and the Western North Carolina Conferences Some are to be given to the appli canto coming from the preparatory schools under the control of the church, and others are to be given to the students coming from the city crrA1 armanU at the State. AH of these are now available upon appli cation to Dr. John F. Crowell, Pre&i dent of the Collego. Applicants must have the recommendation of the Presiding Elder of the district in which they reside, or the preacher in charge. Applicants from schools or other colleges must likewise be recommended by the superior officer in charre. The recommendation of county superintendents of public in struction is particularly desirable an to attainments of teachers. Though these scholarships are not restricted to any particular class of unnlicAnt. teachers and those in rr . : tondins to teach are especially en couraged to apply for tfiera. All ap plicanU must give evidence of having adequate preparation to persevere in college courses of instruction for one year at Trinity College. This class ot scholarships is a gift, not a loan to be returned in the future. Thestu dent is given outright $50 a year with which to pay his tuition in col lege. Tnia is one of- the best offer ever made to the young men of North Carolina, and it is hoped that they will eagerly seise the opportunity to avail themselves of this excellent m stitution through one of the success f ul sons of the Old North State.
