The colored people now have i quite an attractive looking place, where they can secure a shave, hair cut, or anything in the ton sorial line. W. M. Allen is the manager of this department of the enterprises of the colored race, and he is said to be a most excellent barber. In the shop, the largest colored shop in this city, there are five chairs and mirrors all arouud the room. With the opening up of a whole block of stores, including the Merchants' and Farmers' bank, on Parrish street, Durham leads all other Carolina towns in its colored industries. The bank, which is altogether owned by our colored friends, makes the third one run in this State by members of the African race. It is true that many of the other States in the Union possess more.
