Pursuant to adjournment of a meeting of miners held at thoOmrt House in Valdez, Alaska, Jan. drd. 1903. a miner’s meet in jr was held at the same place Jan. nth. l'.t):{. W. II. Whittlesey was duly cho sen for Chairman, and T. 1>. Ho^un for Secretary. A Special committee appointed at the previous meeting, consisting of J. Griffith Stephens, A. J. Kel sey and J. Beck, to prepare and submit a set of rules and regula tions to l>e adopted for the govern ment of a new mining district to be formed, presented the same. The following resolutions and rules or hv-laws were adopted; Resolved:-—That it is the sense of this meeting that urgent necessi ty exists for the immediate passage of n set of local laws rules and reg ulation's. for the governance of the miners and prospectors, whose i n tention i* to operate in the Cop|i«-r piver Basin. There is hereby. created and es tablished what shall he known as the Copper River Mining Di-triet. pi the Valdez Recording District, District of Alaska, which shall em brace all the territory drained bv the Copper River and its tributar ies north of the confluence of the Bremner river and the Copper riv er, including the watershed of the Breiuuer river.
