Mir«. J. Craig, of Dawson, has taken upon berselt the unusua task of collecting and mounting the complete flora of the North land. Mrs. Craig, who is the wife of a Dawson photographer, and herself an artist, lias secured al ready more than 10U distinct flow er specimens which are found growing wild in Alaska and the adjoining Klondike. These she lias mounted between glass by a secret process winch she herself deviled, which enables I he flowers to he preserved without Joss of their original wonderful coloring. She intends to exhibit the collec tion at Seattle in 1909. \ / The Jessie Lee Home, native children, at Unalaska, gave a very enjoyable entertainment in honor of Washington’s birthday. As the Dora was there the night of the 21st.. the programme was rendered one evening ahead of the date in tended. so ns to allow the affair to be enjoyed by The members-'of the ships crew. The way in which those young natives “rose to the occasion” was a very agreeable sur prise to the visitors. Their acting, ‘•peaking, singing, etc., shows the result of very careful training on the part of Dr. Newhall and his faithful assistants. The Jessie Lee Home is an institution of which Alaska should feel proud. Albert Trabold, the well known Tanana mining man, died at Gold Dust creek in the Birch district Feb. 13, after an illnes of only four hours. Mrs. Beggs is now seriously ill In a hospital in Spokane. Mrs. E. R. Davis returned on the Saratoga after spending the winter in Portland. Jack Miller was an arrival on the Saratoga. He will make a trip over the trail to Fairbanks and go to the States again via the Vukon. Court Items. E. E. Ritchie was excused from lurv dutv this morning and leaves for Seward on the Saratoga. The case of Nizina Trading Co. vs. Chris. Tjosevig v as dismissed this morning owing to the non-ap pearance of the plaintiff. Daniels vs. Magnusson will be up for trial tomorrow morning, and Jas.
