The report of tlie Town Treas
urer appears in another column of
this issue and makes a very good
showing for this council. \Vhen
the men who are now in office took
their positions there was consider
able outstanding indebtedness, but
this has been cleared up, large
amounts have been spent on gla
eier work, many additions have j
been made to the fire apparatus
and the town is free from debt, the
outstanding warrants being more
than balanced by the money due
which will soon be available.
J. Olson left yesterday on the
Dora for Unga, where he will lo
cate some copper properties. The
claims were found by him on the
mainland opposite Unga island,
last summer, and carry a good
grade of bornite. He will return
to Valdez in June.
