The engineers in charge of the Yuma line survey have with the from Eureka reached new Canyon, 45 miles above Yuma, on the Colorado river. The survey shows a gain of 25 feet over the one made from the Pot holes. 14 miles awav. The line of survey will cross the Colorado river below the railroad bridge, and pro ceed on to their concessions in bo- nora. The canal when constructed will be of large dimentions, having two branches, one for the Salton basm and Lower California, the other cross the Colorado at Yuma leading over the vast expence of country south and southwest ot Yuma for 150 miles. Colorado and eastern capital are interested in this enterprise and their cash as sets, available tor this purpose, runs high up into the millions of dollars. Water of the Colorado river, have long been running to waste. Capital has been constant ly invited by the Sentinel, for the lost 22 3'ears, to come and invest here; and now after these long years of perseverance, push, and an ever increasing faith in the posibil- ities of this section, has at last saw the light peep from back of the gloom that seemed to enshroud this fair land, for these many years. The day is not far distant when the echoes of industry and the throngs of masses going to and fro, will be one of Yuma's busy scenes. The wide acres now used to pasture slock, will be yielding their burdens of fruit and grain. Merchants and business men will clamor for a place along our wide streets, and bid for these locations br the front foot Railroads and steamboats will come and go with the precious cargoes, and the electric spark will daily flash over the wires the quo tations of the Yuma market, where nearly even7 fruit, grain and vege table known, will be offered for sale, most of which will be native pro ducts. A Million Friends. A friend in need is a friend indeed, nad not less than one million people have found just such a friend in Dr. King's New Dis covery for Consumption, Coughs, and Colds. If you hayo never used this Great Cough Medicine, one trial will convince you that it has wonderful curative powers in all diseases of Throat, Chest and Lungs. Each bottle is guaranteed to do all that is claimed or money will be refunded. Trial bottles freeat W. T. Gonder & Co. 'a drug store. Large bottles 50c. and 1.00. Judge E. M. Sanford, of Yuma, was in town this week settling up his business in this county. He is very enthusiastic in his praise of thesoil and climate of Yuma in the production of citrons and other fruits. Mohave County Miner. Juan Peno returned last Saturd day night from his visit to friends in the sun-kissed land of Yuma count' and has resumed his duties as night operator for the A. & P. R. R. Co., at this place. Mohave County Miner. Deserving Praise. We desire to say to our citizens, that for years we have been selling Dr. King's New Discovery for Consumption, Dr. King's New Life PiSid Bucklun's Arnica Salve and Electric Bitters, and have never handled remedies that sell as well, or that have given such universal satisfaction. AVe do not hesitate to guarantee them every time, and we stand ready to refund the purchase picc, if satisfactory results do not follow their use. T!ic;5 remedies have won their great popularity purely on their merits. V. T. Gonder & Co., druggists. The Products of Yuma County, Arizona are more varied, possibly, than in any other section of the United States. By the application of water, through methods of irri gation, makes it possible for every acre of agricultural land, within the county's limits, susceptible of the highest state of cultivation, The county's dimensions are 80 b' over 200 miles, three-fourths of which can be made the best of farms. Taking into consideration the many valuable and various products of the county, of which the lemon and orange are possibly the most profitable, unless per- hans the date, would out- strip either of them. The oranges now upon the trees in Yuma, are pronounced the equal, in flavor and sweetness to the Sonora or- anae, in fact, the conditions of climate and soil between the two places are so nearly analogous, that similar results, would natural ly be expected. It is the sweet, high flavored orange, that finds the most ready market, and always commands good prices. It is a fact beyond dispute that of all the varieties of oranges grown in Yuma, none were ever inclined to sourness or bitter ness. The splendid effects of warm dry air, filling all fruits with sweet ness. The lemon of which it is the pride of all residents of this com munity to boast, cannot be equal led by any other section yet in competition for the prize. Those who have eaten of this class of fruit from orchards in various parts of the world, claim that there is more juice and of a finer flavor than has been produced in any other land. They are large, full formed, and as clean as if a course of polishing had been applied. Those that find daily use for the lemon in their line of business, say that ourYuma lemon will furnish as much juice as four of those ordinarily bought in open market. It is not difficult for any one to calculate, how soon an orchard of either tho orange or lemon, would be made a profitable business, where lands can be bought at from $30 to $200 an acre with water. Either will bear a crop in this climate five years from planting the trees. There are several trees in the grounds of John Gandolfo, Dorrington and others that are bearing at the rate of $500 per acre from trees seven years old. The date trees of this section of the county are possibly the hardi est, longest lived and best adapted to thi3 climate than any other fruit tree. There are a number of places in the country, west and south of Yuma, where trees of im mense proportions and age are found growing, evidently planted out by the old Spanish mis sionaries hundreds of years ago, living evidence of what this land and climate are capable of produc ing. The fruits from these trees are when cured, ahead of any date ever imported into America, as to flavor, sweetness and plumpness. One tree alone being capable of producing 2,000 pounds of fruit. Another thing in regard to the date is, that theyjgrow in our salty lands, better than in any other, though they do well in any kind of soil. The Arabs have a tradition; that the date to do well must have its ''feet in the water and its head in the lire," both of which require ments are to be found in this fav ored section of the great southwest. The plant goes to seed here, and can be sown and cultivated with as much ease as a crop of potatoes. The method of setting out the roots as is practiced in less favored locali ties, is not necesssery here, hence the cheapness of its cultivation, is greatly reduced, bringing it up to that point where machinery can be used with as much effectiveness as is done in the cultivation of the sugar beet. The profits from an acre of canagre, has been estimated at $200. Ten tons per acre at $25 per ton, allowing $50 for cultiva tion and harvesting the crop ready for market. Consumption Cured. An old physician, retired from practice having had placed in his hands by an East India missionary the formula of a simple vegetable remedy for the speedy and per manent cure of Consumption, Bronchitis, Catarrh, Asthma and all throat and Lung Affeccions, also a positive and radical cure for Nervous Debility and all Nervous Com plaints, after having tested its wonderful curative powers in thousands of cases, has felt it his duty to make it known to his suffering fellows. Actuated by this motive and a desire to relieve human suffering, I will send free of charge, to ail who desire it, this recipe, in German, French or Eng lish, with full directions for preparing and using. Sent by mail by addressing with stamp, naming thi3 paper. "W. A. Noye3, 820 Powers' Block. .Rochester, N. Y. The new canal scheme at Yuma is being pushed as rapidly as men and money can do it, and will in all probabilit'-, be completed within the next year. The water will be taken out of the Colorado' a dis tance above Yuma and will bo dis tributed over the mesa lands lying in the Hermosa district, reclaiming hundreds of thousands of acres. It will not only be of benefit to the agricultural interests, but the mines will profit much thereby, and many that cannot be worked at all now, for lack of water, will be opened up. Mr. Blaisdell, of the Yuma Pumping Company, is erecting a system of pneumatic punips that will supply the city with water at a very cheap rate, electric lights, ice and all the accompanying indus tries being included. The prison will be furnished with light and water by the same company at a much more economical figure than they necessarily cost now. Mining and Scientific Press.
