Actually the needs that must be answered for a large poition of youth the half grown—fall well outside the area of family influence. What these 4ralf-grown youngsters need is the exertion of a general com munity influence on the envir onment around them an in fluence that will minimize the Cvil and maximize the better as pects of that environment.” • As for housing, Mr. Granger said, ‘‘Every time I see a thou sand - unit, high - rise, low - cost bousing development go up in New York City I feel not plea sure over the prospect of new liousing facilities for those who freed them desperately, but rath er anger over the callous stu pidity with which city planners continue to destroy family and neighborhood values in order to Save land values.” ■' In conclusion, Mr. Granger Said, “Has the time not come When the American people . . . pan look coolly at this divisive factor of race ... as to under stand the irreparable damage in flicted by racial segregation not only upon the personalities of Colored young people who are deprived from the free man’s op portunity in an otherwise free society, but also upon the chil dren of those vex-y ones who have established the aggressive pat tern. who fight to retain racial discrimination?” PATRONIZE THE SUN'S ADVERTIZERS assignments, after a period of briefing, and Jones was off alorxe into the night in cruiser 1146 to insure peace and safety while we slept. Congratulations are indeed due Doc Benson and his competent staff for the excep tionally fine newspaper that the reorganized SUN is proving it self to be. I'm glad to again have the op portunity to write to you of my news and views, some sense and some nonsense. For instance lt isn't often i thet one gets a chance at some thing for nothing well almost nothing! Here is how! We have a half gallon jug on the counter here at Reddy's Corner with a sign that reads "Pennies to Keep a Boy Out of the Jug." The jug is now full of coins, and we have started a guessing contest. All that you have to do to get in on it is donate a quarter and make a guess as to the amount of mon ey in the Jug. The person guess ing closest to the amount gets a new five dollar bill that I have put in the kitty plus half of the j quarters. All the rest of the mon ey goes to the Arizona Boys' Rranch at Queen Creek. Isn't that almost getting a chance at something for nothing? Wouldn't you have donated a quarter to that worthy cause anyway? Cer* tainly would have, and it isn't j too late yet. In fact, we won't open the jug of coins until 2:30 Easter Sunday afternoon. Why i don't you make your guess now > then plan to be at Reddy's i Corner and help supervise ~ ihe4 counting of the coins Easter' Sunday? As always.
