I w St Wikkii'SS' «M ; -~ Two new teachers in the Roosevelt District are welcomed by Dr. Curtis 0. Greenfield, principal of the Percy L. Julian School, f - 2149 E. Carver Drive. Mrs. Flowers, a native of Seguin, Texas, graduated from Prairie View College in June, 1962. A music major, she obtained a minor in elementary education. She and her husband, Wilbert, an engineer at Motorola, moved to the city early this summer. She is teaching a fourth grade. She spent a couple of days here when she appeared with the Prairie View College choir in 1959. They live at 1934 E, Adams. Mr. King returned to Phoenix after receiving his master’s degree in science at Southern University, located in Baton Rouge. He has had nine years of teaching experience. He has served three years as an elementary school principal and one year as an assistant high school principal. Mr. King is the industrial arts teacher. Appreciation services were ! held for Rev. M. Harrison and his wife who have been assigned here for the past three years. They received many beautiful | and useful gifts. Rev. and Mrs. Harrison and several delegates are attending the 15th session of the Arizona- New Mexico annual conference f at Hobbs, New Mexico, Sept. 12-16. j The pastor and his wife pre- I sented the church with a large blue and pink neon cross before leaving for the conference. It is eight feet high and has been placed over the main entrance. STUDENT SHOT DURING REGISTRATION DAWSON, Georgia Efforts to aid Negroes in registering to vote caused the injury of Jack Chatfield, a white student of Trin ity College in Bradford, Ver- , mont, who was assisting some Negro registration workers. He was struck by shotgun pel lets in the arm. Four Negro homes were fired upon but no one was injured about nineteen miles east of the city at Leesburg.
