Pine, publicity di rector of Valley National Bank, has been elected president of the Phoenix Executives Club for 1963-64, its 16th as one of the nation's largest dinner groups featuring nationally - known speaker-personalities. Ralph G. Burgbacher was named first vice president, G. Robert Herberger second vice president, and Betsy C. Fred erickson treasurer. Laura Dan ieli was renamed executive di rector. New members of the board of directors include Kemper Good win and Dr. Ralph C. Hook Jr. Dr. Ben P. Frissell and Her berger were re-elected to three year terms. Continuing directors include Oren Arnold, Ralph E. Bruneau, Bert Cavanaugh, C. A. Clements and Junius E. Driggs, in addi tion to the new officers. Eight Silver Beaver awards for Distinguished Service to Boy hood will be presented to volun teer Scouters. U.S. TOBACCO TAX $230,000 AN HOUR WASHINGTON The US. Treasury collects nearly a quar ter of a million dollars in to bacco taxes every hour day and night. Tobacco News, issued by The Tobacco Institute, Inc., said last year’s federal tobacco tax col lections came to over $2 billion, or $230,317.72 per hour. At the same time, states, cities and counties with excises of their own collected another one eighth of a million dollars from tobacco, every hour around the clock —■ for a total of $1 billion in 1962.
