A? ? A new Alaska railroad is projected by a company called the Short Line j Development & Construction Com-1 pany, which has tiled articles of incor poration in the secretary of state's of fice at Olympia, Wash. The articles do not givo the route to be taken by the road. The capital stock is placed at $3,000,000. The incorporators are Theodore Flammer and Martin B. Bos worth of Seattle. The principal office of the company will be in Seattle. RHEUMATISM When pains or irritation exist ou any part of the body, the application of! Ballard's Snow Liniment gives prompt relief. E. VV. SOllivau, Prop. Sullivan House El Reno, O. T., writes, June G, 1902: "I take pleasure in recommend ing Ballard's Snow Liniment to all who are afflicted with rheumatism. It is the only remedy I have found that gives I immediate relief." 25c, 50c, $1.00. Sold by J. Henbner. Some one Lbs figured out from the customs report that enough whisky was drunk in Nome in 1904 to make 500 drinks for every man in the camp. Supposing that a quarter of the popu lation drank none at all. then the av erage Nome driuking man took 025 drinks last year. Kvery camp has a few men who drink at least ten times as much as the average tippler; and calculating from this we come to the conclusion that Nome's leading drink- j ing men each took 0,250 drinks during the year?or 17 each week day, 20 each Sunday, 34 on Christmas, 25 on St. i Patrick's Day and 25 on the Fourth of July. STOP THAT COUGII When a cough, a tickliug or an irrita tion in the throat makes you feel * uncomforable, take Ballard's Hore-1 hound Syrup. Don't wait until the disease has gone beyond control. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Anderson, 354 West 5th St., Salt Lake City. Utah, write: "We think Ballard's Horehound Syrup the best mediciue for cougns ami colds. We have used it for several years; it always gives immediate relief, is very pleasant and gives perfect satisfaction.'' 25c, 50c, 61.00. Sold by J. Heubner. A Sitka man has gone east for the j purpose of enlisting capital in the es-j tablishment of a wood pulp factory in some part of Alaska, probably iu the neighborhood of Sitka. There iscertaiu ly au opening for an industry of the ! kind in Alaska, and its establishment would be a benefit to the district and to the whole Pacific coast. But two iu- ( dustries thus far have been established in Alaska, mining and the fisheries, i Both are well established, however, and the annual product of either would look large in any state or territory. There is as good an opportunity for the establishment of other industries in Alaska as in any other part of the country. There is the raw material needed, cheap transportation by water, and a good climate. In Southeastern Alaska the climate is far better than in the states where the wood-pulp indus try is established and conducted on a large scale. There is no reason to doubt that a wood-pulp plant in the neighborhood of Sitka would be a com mercial success. There is raw ma terial in abundance; there is cheap land ' and a healthful climate. Labor would have to be imported to a very consid- j erable extent; but there would be no serious difficulty in securing it,, if the real advantages of a location in Alaska | were understood. If one plant is es- j tabli9hed and proves profitable, it will' be the pioneer of other industries of the j eame or of a similar character.?P.-1. I COLIC AND DIARR1IOEA?A REM- j EDY THAT IS PROMPT AND PLEASANT The prompt results produced by j Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diar- j rhoea Remedy together with its pleas ant taste have won for it a place in many households. Mr. W. T. Taylor, I a merchant of Winslow, Ala., writes:' "I have used Chamberlain's Colic, Choi- j era and Diarrhoea Remedy myself and j also with men on my place, for diar- j roheaaud colic and it always gives relief | promptly and pleasantly."
