REVENUE GUTTER SEIZES SEALERS More than 100 Japanese Under Arrest for Poaching Off St. Paul Island VESSEL HAS CLEVER DISGUISE Seventy-five Offenders are at lin ger and Bear Goes After Sec ond Installment Two Japanese Healing vessels have been captured by t he revenue eutter j Bear olT St. Paul island and their crews numbering 100 or more are un dor arrest charged with poaching inside the three mile limit . Word to this effect was last night received by Assistant. United States District At torney Ray, the message stating that the capture was effected July 22. At the time the message left. Unga sev- j enty-flve Japanese had been left there 1 by the Bear which had gone west ward again after another installment of offenders. Commissioner Drilllcld of Unga lias held twenty-live of the offenders to appear before the district court and at the time the message was dis patched was preparing to have hear ings in the cases of fifty more. All those held will probably be brought to Valdez for trial. District Attor ney Hay will shortly depart for Unga i under instruntions received t his morn ing from the attorney general. That the department of justice believes the case of importance is evidenced by the fact that a reply was received j this morning to the message sent last | night by Mr. Ray. Ordinarily it takes 1 at least twenty-four hours for an ex change of communication. The report of the raid states that one of the sealers, the Kinsci Maru, was disguised to resemble the reve nue cutter McCullough. The sealer was provided with funnels contrived out of paste board, her boats were slung in revenue cutter form and in every way the disguise was complete. It is believed from this that the Kin- j sei Maru left Japan with the intention of poaching on the rich preserves of St. Paul island and that the material | used ir. the disguise were made in Japan. It is also the belief that the Kinsci Maru is the vessel the crew of which last season raided the village of Al chok on Alitka Bay while the inhabi tants were away at a cannery. Mayor Truth 0k.rvd QviaJity appeal to the well informed in every walk of life and are essential to permanent success and creditable standing, therefore we wish to call the attention of all who would enjoy good health, with its blessings, to the fact that it involves the question of right living with all the term implies. With proper knowledge of what is best each hour of recreation, of enjoyment, of con templation and of effort may be made to contribute to that end and the use of medicines dispensed with generally to great advantage, but as in many instances a simple, wholesome remedy may be invaluable, if taken at the proper time, the California Fig Syrup Co. feels that it is alike important to present truthfully the subject and to supply the one perfect laxative remedy which has won the approval of physicians and the world-wide acceptance of the Well-Informed because of the excellence of the combination, known to all, and the original method of manufacture, which is known to the California Fig Syrup Co. only. This valuable remedy has been long and favorably known under the name of-—Syrup of Figs — and has attained to world-wide acceptance as the most excell ent family laxative. As its pure laxative principles, obtained from Senna, are well known to physicians and the Well Informed of the world to be the best we have adopted the more elaborate name of — Syrup of Figs and Elixir of Senna — as more fully descriptive of the remedy, but doubtless it will always be called for by the shorter name of — Syrup of Figs — and to get its beneficial effects, always note, when purchasing, the full name of the Company — California Fig Syrup Co. — printed on the front of every package, whether you call for — Syrup of Figs—or by the full name— Syrup of Figs and Elixir of Senna.
