From Meadow Lake Sad Accident.
Meadow Lake, Aug. 17.
On Friday afternoon, Anirust 17'h, at
about 3 o'clock, a sad accident occurred by
which an estimable lady, the wife of K. Mar
eoux and child, a girl aired f.ur years, lost
their mea. A pary of six, consisting of
two men, two women and two children, went
out to sail upon Meadow Lake. After sail
ing to t:ie large dam of the South Yuba
Canal Company, the party turned about to
return home, wh"n the boat capsized and
precipitated all it to the Lake. AH were
saved but the woman and child. The body
of the latter was immediately recovered, but
several h rs cla ped before the former was
obtained.
Several h'ats were immediately despatched
to the scene of the disaster, and many
bathers nere eniploved to recover the b.tdy of
the wonriTi, - wi'hnut suerc--. Or tpplinir
irons wa re then obtained, and at about half
past rWc success crowned their etforts.
Deceased was of French descent, and was
