We find the following interesting re port of the progress of the work on the Pacific Railroad in the Sacramento Union of Friday : The' work of extending the track of the Pacific Railroad beyond Altawas commenced several davs ago, and about four miles have been laid beyond that point. The road bed is completed, or nearlr so, to Cisco, and there will be no interruption in laying the iron until that pinl i reached Cisco is located about twenty-two miles beyond Alia and fif teen miles this side of the summit. As at least a half mile per day is laid. Cisco will be reached before the first of No vember. The entire force of workmen on the road will, when the Winter's snow renders it necessary, be transfer red to the eastern slope. On the return of Spring grading across the snow-belt of the summit will be resumed. Cisco will therefore probably remain the ter minus of the road until June or July neit, at which time a long stride will be taken to some point on the eastern slope. If the main tunnel is not com pleted at that time a temporary track will be laid across the summit. Tunnel No. 2. at Emigrant Gap. a short dis tance bevond Cisco, was completed on Wednesdav. This tunnel is three hnn dred and fif'v feet long and is fire thou sand feet above the level of the sea. There are two other tunnels on the line which are being worked as rapidly as possihle. One will be two hundred feet and the other four hundred feet long. The main tunnel at the summit will be about one thousand sis hundred feet long. All the tunnels are made wide enough for a double track. Cisco is lo cated about ninety-two miles from Sac ramento. MULLER'S HOTEL, Carn Stnrt, two d ninth f Third, CAItSOX CITY, NEVADA.
