Adopted by the Deinoerntle State Convention, a! Virginia City, Auklift! 29th, 1876. Wo, tho Delegates of tho Democratic Tarty of tho State of Nevada, in convention assem bled, do hereby declare— First—Our unfaltering and cordial adher ence to the declaration of principle eontained in the platform of the National Democratic Onrention, which convened at .?t. Louii on the 27th dav of J . ne. 187d. Second- Wo declare our adherereo and our earnest an 1 real*.. s support to Samuel J. Til don and '1 homes A. Hendricks, the nominee? of the National Democracy lor tho offices of President and Vice President ofa tho Duited States, and that we view with satisfaction the candidacy of thes^ great representatives of reform, who, if elected, .fid carry into effect the pledges made in their letters of accept ance end in the pi itforna the National Democratic Convention. Third—Wo declare that w* aro in favor of ruaintaing a free public school system, and we ar« unalterably opposed to any division of tho funds thereof, or to any religious or soe tar an interference therewith. Fourth—That religious liberty and separa tion of Church from State are cardinal doc trines of the Democratic party, and have ever been maintained by it. 'That wo are there for** unalterably opposod to political pro scription on a- count of religious faith and to any interference by any religious seat or creed ia the po! ti-at jffair? of th-s country. i ifth - We demand of the’Federal flb rm> ruont the immediate modification ef tho treaty with tho Empire of < Lina. khi nn as {lie Bar lingnmo treaty, and sueh legislation and treaty regulations ns si all utterly abolish Cbm- se immigration to theso ihorei. ond wo declare that we will support no one for office who is not determined and active in opposi tion thereto. And we donounco the Ropubli ean party as being the author of the preseat system of coolie importation and Mongolian 1 iiamigration to our country, through its blcn dcring legis ation and administration; and we charge the Republican party with having promoted and fostered and countenanced i h uese immigration by a gross perversion of the meaning, intent and scope of the clause of the Dec!iiration of Independence which de clares that “all men are created equal,” and we charge that the Republican part' is in sincere in its declaration of opposition to Chinese immigration, a? evidenced by the de claration of it? acknowledged leaders in it« National Convention at Cincinnati, and as evidenced by the fact that iu a neighboring Mate the lenders of the Republican party have a<*o**od and accepted funds from com panies engaged in the coolie trafie for tho use and benefit of the Republican party ia the pending political campaign. Sixth 1 haf we view with satisfaction and t aint with pride to the labors of tho present Federal House of Re res ntative ic unearth ing corruption and villainy in high places and having in a single year instituted economies whereby the expenses of tho Federal Hov erninent have boon reduced more than $30, 000,000, not w ithsturding the determined op-] politico anil liability ol the lenders of the ] Rei . bllr u pai tj in (/ongrani. Seventh—We favor an economical adminis tration of our State, county and municipal governments; that taxation bo so regulated that no surplus rev vnue be accumulated; that all property including tho net proceeds '■f mines shall bear in equal burden of taxa tion, and we nr • opposed to any h gislaiion in h y w ise exempting such proceeds from taxa tion. rig mil l rial wi" puriv di irn« ** I a t »* utterly repudiate* the assertion of it? favoring the i ayment of any c'aiuj* lor slave? liberated, or any »*c»r11• n of the Confederate w*r claims or debt. Wo rocogi.i o the full at.d.linul settlement of those questions by the I it to* nth Amendment to the Constitution of the I nited States, which provid*?: "Tho validity of thj public debt <d tho I’uited S'ate?, autb ri-ed by la w, including debt* or payment of pension? ui-d hountie* f< r « rrice? in suppressing in? rrretn n <>i rebellion, shall not b.i questioned, but neither the I nitad State* nor any Stare shall a*?umo • r pay aay debt or obligation incurred in nid of -nsur rertion or rebellion against the 1 nited Stale.?, or any claim for ike loss or ounne- nation of any * u . e; b it a'l such debts, obligations and claim? "brill be held illegal and void.” Ninth That we charge upon the Republi can Congress tho clandestine, surreptitious and fraudulent passing of tho act of March, 1ST 1, demon- ti/ing silver That we denounce that a f a* an infam jus outrage on the debtor cl*??of the l nit'd Stat< s, res ilting a? it ba in it ci casing their burden? to the startling amount of over S400,UtK),000. That we de nounce that act as in an extreme degree in imical and disastrous to the people of Nevada by mainlv causing tho immense depreciation of tho value of silver and thereby prostrating and pnralv/ing the great loading industry of • dver mil ing in this State. I hat wo deniau 1 the restoration of the d«mb o standard of gold and silver, and we call up-n .ill tho pc< l 1 • in this Stut I*, disregarding minor i is nos, to srdi 11 v ? ipport that party which ha?evidenc ed by it? vole in the present Congr»*s? it* deter mination to do us ample justice in this vital question. Tenth The rule of the Uepubli nn party during the eleven years past has been charac terized by corruption and oppression, ot which inod» rn despotism furnishes no paral lel. Professing to b » th«* paity of liberty and progress, it has with armed mem invaded b*gisiiitlve bodies of sovereign State? of the I nion in violation of the fundamental law, thoreby imperiling the existence of tree gov ernment. Wbile advocating tho restoration of fraternal relation? with the people of the States of tho South, it has misgoverned that unhappy section by means disgraceful to a civilize.! and Christian age. By the incite ment of riot and insurrection it has main tained ifi supremacy in the South- a suprem acy which ha* entailed prostrate industries, uncultivated fields and general bnnhruptcy upon a once prosperous people. With loud promise? to the country of reform in tho civil service, of the reduction of expenditure* in tho departments of the Government, if bus presented to the country and the world the humilitating spectacle of the acquittal of a high officer of the Government successfully Impeached for high crimes; of tho enforced resignation of cabinet officials, because their purity <>t diameter ami tearies* prosecution of thieve* rendered such officials no longer useful to tho party managers; of frauds in the Itevenuo department perpetrutod by thoir officials, who, instead <»f punishment for their crimes, are protected by the t hief Mag istrate of tho nation; of fraud in the Interior Department whereby tho “Indian King" has purloined tho appropriations made by Con gress to the Indian tribes, thereby instigat ing said tribes to war, with its attendant hor rors, upon a defenseless frontier; ot corrup tion in the lmud Office of the Government whereby decisions disposing of tho Home stead, Presumption and Mining rights of tip* citizen? have been bought and sold; of fraud in the Navy Department wherein many uiil linns have been expended ostensibly for the maintenance of rotten ships and their arma ments, but in reality for tho enrichment of its high officials and tho campaign purposes of the party. Of fraud in the advancement b.v the Government of millions of the public nionoys to privato banking institutions known to be on tho verge of bankruptcy. Of corrup tion in tho Executive Department in the ap pointment of dishonest individuals as Tinted States .1 udgos, Marshuls and Kevenue officers, by whom ihe administration of justice has been brought into contempt and the revenue of the people stolen. Ky tho perpetration of the«e high crimes and misdemeanors by the leaders of tho party in power, we claim that it is no longer entitled to tho contidonco of the American people. We therefore earn* ostly and cordially invite all men of whatso ever pant affiliations, who love thoir country hotter than a party name, to unite with us in an effort to restore in the Government of our country those habits of simplicity and purity which characterized the earlier and bettor days of tho Kepiblic.
