home oti Fourth street, near Minna.
Two young men, Caldwell and Maxey,
were room-mates In the hou«e. About
7 o'clock tho reports of pUtol* were
heard ; an oflleer came, broke open the
door and found Caldwell in lied, dead,
shot thraugh the head, and Maxey on
the lloor, shot through tho side and
mortally wounded. He wns able to
xpuak, and said Caldwell shot htm and
then shot himself; but a* the pistol
was found near him It Is l*e!leved ho
tlrst shot Caldwell and then himself.
Maxey was still alive a few minutes
ago. He had been employed In a hat
•tore on Montgomery street, near
Pine, and Caldwell was a conductor
on the North Reach and MI**lon sired
