It ia publishsd in ths Gold Bill Xrws at ths upmi reqnsst of lb« Htkor, uJ for the reaaoa that the chief Demoerntie organ is Storey county being owned by Tom William*, ■nob a oemmnnlcatioa would not be allowed to appear la ita eolumna. The writer iimnta tit* action of General Williama with fore* and troth. Ha ueee tha knife cneparingly. Ha ahowa'that tha aold and eelftch character of clammy Thorn aa ia now. aa it haa a«w boon, a hindrance to Democratic tnceoaa; that thia man Williama haa eo ughl la whip tha Democracy of Storey county Into hia support by manna at once de grading to the party and unworthy a Senatorial aapirnnt; that be baa toyed with Hutro; that be baa 'outraged Oold Hill and the whole of Storey county by compelling the withdrawal •f one of her moat popular citizens from the ticket and placing thereon not n citizen of Oold Hill, bat n recent ar rival at Virginia City. He claims to be —aa we know him to hare bean here tofore—a strong anpporter ef the Dem ocratic party, bet deniee that Williama baa any right to sacriftcs that party for hia own aelflah purpoeea. We commend the letter to the perusal of intelligent Demecrata, and while not exactly agree ing with the writer regarding hia riewi upon the proepecta ef Bradley and Adams, we are compelled te admit that hia stricturee upon the Democratic man agement la Storey county are based upen well known facta, and are fully deeerred. The author ia a repreeenta tire Democrat, and not by any meana the only one who holds viewe identical with thoee enunciated in hia letter. A BAD MKAK. The worst break that Tem Williams i ia thia campaign, since he sold the Democratic party cut to Sutro, waa made lact evening at the letter's lecture. Early in the evening Piper'a Opera House waa filled by Democrats, Republi cans and Sutro'* ciayvert, the Democratic element being In large majority. Sutro began by abusing Mr. Sharon. This is a popular method of campaigning adopt ed by the opposition and for a while everything went smoothly Adolph Su tro waa applauded and William Sharon damned with a holy uactuousneoe that waa eminently eoothing to Tom Wil liama and hia friende. Hut we hare eften had reason to note that while Williama waa pretty well up in ward manipula te aa he failed to comprehend the maa agemeat of a campaign. He haa aot sufficient foresight; doce aot look far enough ahead. Thia was exemplified last night. Mr. Satro, la aecordaace with their bargain, began to damn Tom Wil liama. He eaid that be (W) wee even worse than Sharon; that he waa a petti fogger of the bank ring,, etc. etc. This was "all ia tha play." Tom Williama folly understood that it waa buncombe; aa also did many of hia friends. But the majority who had ae semblod to hear Sutro had not been properly instructed. This wse a fatal oversight. It totally daetroyed the ef fect of Mr. Satro'e eloquence and Hoc. Just aa soon aa Sutra began to damn Williama. the letter's friende be gan to damn Intro even more earnectly. They caked Sutro puzzling queetiona. For inetanoe, when he eaid that Mr. Sharon had bought up leading Demo crats, they propounded the direct query, Who arc they? Thia troubled Hutro. Finally ha answered, " Bob Taylor." Mr. William's frisnds immediately said, "No 1 Jonce bought him two yean ago." The fact ia, that Mr. Sutro made a bad break in commencing to abuse WUliame (eccoriling to programme) without first having ascertained that Williama had given proper information and inatrac tiens to his frisnds It Is our deliber ate Judgment, that nnleee Oen. Williama ia poeeeeaed of more fortnight than he has displayed in thie matter, he ie unfit to repreeent thia State at Waahington. Mr. Satro also aeems to be locking ia the same particular. Strrao, in hU lecture laat evening, did mot rsfsr to that little physical matter rer««tly alluded to bj hia hired eulogist. Mr. Kussaer. Many want to baar Mr. Hutro with tha hope ol baaring him iadorae or dsay tba troth of Mr. Sob Mt'a etatements. In aa excited political cyapaiga, Mr. Sumner's atatamant and explanation of tba eloaa ralatiooahip between tba Aaayrian and Mr. Sharon to aatitlad to earsful and calm consider ation. Mr. Sharon baa no recollection of the event alluded to by Sumaer. It vaa before hia time. Mr. Sutro waa aleo very young, bat possibly may have other means than mere memory by which to substantiate the truth of hia eulogiat'e aaeertion. We are thua antioua in the mattor from tha National and State qaee tiona therein iavolvsd, and the inflasnos it may have on this campaign. Aa we said yaatsrday. the ealcium light should he brought to bear upon the point uf How Tier Rxctivs It.—The newa of the Democratic gains la Ohio and In diana were received with great rejoicing by the Democracy in tha Sooth, says a special dispatch to a Western Demo cratic paper. Of coarse it waa so re oaived. Upon the strength of it one paper—the Vicksburg (Miss.) lltraU— instantly raised the standard of repudia tion, State and national. The neit thing will be a general demand from that quarter that the Northern people ■hall reimburse the alaveholdera for the I emancipation of the slaves, and defray the loeeee incurred by the rebels aa tha result of their treasonable war.—Ex 9— Too tree. Through thia Bepublicaa mediumahip I deaire to aay a few plain word* to mj fellow Democrat* an the preaent political actu ation, and abeut Tom Williama in par ticular. No aane Democrat will deny that in the preaent political campaign our fight haa been moat blunderingly managed, and all through tha aelfiah, narrow-minded manipulation of thia man Tom Williama. Ha haa been a atauding candidate for tha office of United State* Senator for the paat eight year*, and every time he haa lad the party to defeat. Ila la doing ao again. He think* thia time that the great and well-earned popularity of Governor Bradley will carry the ticket through triumphantly, and aecure hia election to the United State* Senate. Hia individ ual aucceaa is. however, all that Tom Williama caree for or work* for. He thinka he own* and run* th* whole Democratic party, and evidently thinka it* sole aim *hould be to vote for aud elect Tom Williama United Statee Sena tor; and he would rather have the legis lative portion of the ticket pledged te him and defeated, than te *ee it win for aouiebody alee. By reaaon ef hia noto rioualy great unpopularity.Tom Williama haa alwaya been a damaging iaoubua to the wholo party, yet he will alwaya be Intruding aud putting himeelf forward, to the exeloaion of better and more pop ular and oapable men. Hia Senatorial longinga have beoome a chronic diieaae. Kuowiuj that there were other Sena torial aapirauta, our party leadera pre ferred th* Crawford plan, of letting ev ery man caating a vote at the goueral electiou, eignify en hi* ballot hia preference fer U. S. Senator, and who ever chould receive the greateat number ef vote* would be the one whoa the legialative delegation aheuld be inatruct a<l to caat their votea for aa the choice of th* party. Thia would have been »*tie factory to the other aapiranta and their friend*, and avoided the diicord and bit ter feeling engendered at the primariee; bat the ambitieua, greedy, aelfiah Wil liama would net allow thia; and by meana of hia meney, influence, and prox iee. he defeated this plan in the County Central Committee. Thus, too, he car ried the County Convention at Gold Hill; and in order te more fully elinch and secure the legialative nominee*, h* wrote the following reaolution himaelf and ruahed it through the Convention : R*ohid, That thia Convention doea hereby recommend Thomas H. William* to the Legialature of thia State aa a gen tleman po**e*aing the qualification* nsc eeaary to fitly and ably represent thi*. Stat* in the Senate of the United State*, and that eocA j»r*m nominated by thi* Convention for tbe office of Senator or Assemblyman *hall, by the acceptance Df auch nomination, bo deemed to tlnml fJolytd to vote for, and u*a every beuor iblc mean* to secure the election of *aid William* to succced the lion. Wm. M. Stewart in the United State* Senate. Thia iron-clad pledge, of course, bind* those legislative nomineee to vote for Williama. yet to-day were that reaolu tion te be put again to vote, a majority of tbe delegates would vote it down. No ono but Williama would have been mean enough to have exacted *uch nn ignominious pledge from his party. Sharon, with all bis alleged tyranny, would not and did not ask that of the Republican legialative nomineee; no other Senatorial aepirant throughout the State, haa exacted auch a pledge. Still meaner than that—Williama en the morning of the primary election, pro cured an article to be publiahed in Mr. Sutro'a paper, the Virginia bultptndtnl, charging Mitchell, hia rival for Senator ial honors, with being in the interest of the Bank ring, thus bringing certain prejudices to operate against Mitehell, and securing his defeat. When U waa subeequently discovered that Williams had treacherously compromised the whole party by forming a selfish co alition with Sutro in ordsr to still fur ther secure his Senatorial chances, a petition, aakiug the Central Committee to reecind that reeolution binding tbe legialative nomineee te vote for Wil liama. waa circulated and unanimoualy ligued, but William* auoceeded In cap turing and suppressing it. Tom Williams has increased in wealth tinoe then, and ia now one of the great eapitaliita of the land. He it one ot the Trutteee ot the Virginia and Trnokee Railroad Com pany, and is a large stockholder in it If he ia not a California Bank man, at many think he ia who know his Inti mate relatione with the Bins far many years paat, hia action in the Demooratlo party at the pr**«nt time ia doing mor* to elect Sharon than any man Sharon has in hit employ.
