July 20| .05 Ang Mlfcpt. 1.7 OUR MINIWO REVIEW Pur lire Week ending July 93. Matters in the mining world have ma terially improved for the past week. In While Pine, especially, better feeling obtains than for many months past. The transfer of leading properties, and resumption of operations thereon, has had the good effect to re-eatahlish con fidence among all classea in the wealth and ultimate prosperity of the District. The initiatory steps for the establish ment of refilling and aeparating worka, both here and at Eureka, for thesucceaa fnl treatment of bane bullion, has also contributed largely to the prospects of improved times in all branches of busi ness. Upon the whole, it would nearly seem certain that tho local monetary pressure, which boa ro long clouded and thwarted all legitimate enterprise, ia 1,1 k,ut lieing relieved, and that Eastern Nevada, and White Pine in particular, ia just entering open an cm of uupar nlleled prosperity. It is true, that the lx neficial results to come from tho im portant improvements now in course of construction, are as yet scarcely noticea ble; still, people generally are more lio|x?ful of the future than at any time in tho history of the District. The forces on tho Aurora Consolida ted and Eberhardt, under the new man agement, are shortly to lie increased, snd that Ixitli of these excellent mines will be operated with the most gratifying suc cess, no one familiar with the situation can entertain a doubt. We have not had an opportunity to 1 interview ' the new management, but we aro credibly in formed that tho immediate erection of a til-stamp mill, at Eberhardt City, haa been officially decided upon. l u« Aurora nouio oodhdun u> nmiu tain its good reputation as a bullion pro doeer, and the shipments of Treasure from the Stanford mill aggregate about $15,000 per week. The mine, under the able management of Mr. Benjamin and Dr. Cloodfellow, is beiug vigorously worked, and never promised letter than now. There is an abundance of good ore in sight to keep the mill in constant operation for the next year to como. Original Hidden Treasure hafl touched as low as $3% per share during the week, and is considered a ‘ good buy ’ by our local operators at those figures. It is probable, however, that an assesHment on the stock of the company may l»e levied in the interest of the ‘Ijears.’ It is notorious here that the price of the stock bears no relation whatever to the paying prospects of the mine. The Silver Wave is yielding an abund ance of high-grade ore. The Perkins shaft is down S3 feet 21 of which is in ore and vein matter, and the end is not \ fine body of milling or® was also struck yesterday, in the Wheeler shaft, at a depth of 40 feet. The Perkins and Wheeler shufts are 05 feet apart, but ovi dently on the same deposit of ore. An average of the ore w orked by mill is from $75 to $100 per tun. Increased activity is noticeable alsrat I ho Wabash and Hemlock, since the Philadelphia Company assumed control of these mines. Captain Rogers is vigorously prosecut ing work on the Noonday. An assess ment of 20 cents per share has been levied on the capital stock of this com pany, delinquent August 24. Silver Vault Tunnel and Mining Cora puny has levied an assessment of 5 cents the share, delinquent August 25. The sale of delinquent stock in the Featherstone takes place in Ran Fran cisco August 11. Base metal interests continue to com mand nHarge share of public attention, and as a rule, this cIuhs of mines are more sought after thau any other in the histrict. Wo hear of several important developments along the eastern slope of White Pine mountain during the week, but in most cases we uro without par ticulars. The .lennio A Consolidated, Flannngnn, Maggie Consolidated, and other mine® in that §601100, are daily im proving in appearance, and either one of them is capable of supplying the tallig ♦ rout Nations of the old world with the * sinews of war’ (both lead and silver) for a long time to come. The Imperial, Elko, Russian. Era. and other claims on the western spur of Treasure Hill, continue to show a satis factory amount of high prade base ore. But three furnaces are in active opera tion in the district lUlhburns, Wel land's, and Walsh's. The White Pino Smelting Works are still inflicted with legal obstructions, and as a consequence, out of service. We understand, how ever, that they will shortly fir© up; all of tho creditors having been settled with at fifty cents on the dollar. The Alsou is still waiting for returns from the bullion forwarded to Newark. Pritchard & Co.|shipped 40 tuns of coarse bullion for the week, and have 25,700 pounds from Wciland's furnace to send forward to-day. Our exports of fine bullion during the week aggregate $34,053.87, of which amount $18,020.31 went West, and $15, 133.55 Fust. Examin ation of Maim in kt al.—The examination of Constable John Martin, Jennie Irwin ami Lena Brown, charged with grand larceny, was concluded before Justico Atwood yesterday. Oue of the women was discharged and the other held to answer in the sum of #200. Martin was required to file a bond in the sum of $1,500 for his appearance before the next Grand Jury; but failing to do so, ho was marched off to the County Jail. It is probable, however, that ho will be released on bail to-day, as efforts were being made last night by his friends to furnish acceptable security for his ap pearance. Ai.dermank Chamuck rat Lanuan and I)r. Goodfellow have been elected members of the Board of Trustees of Treasure City, vice E. Alexander and Captain Turner resigned. Appropos to this subject, Treasure is the most eco nomically managed city on the whole face of the globe. The Marshal's salary has been abolished, and the entire mu nicipal machinery is now run without the expenditure of a single farthing. Bfntknckd.—Flynn was yesterday sen tenced by Judge Beatty to seven years’ imprisonment in the penitentiary. He had pleaded guilty to two offenses—grand larceny and carrying burglar's tools. He received five years on the first count and two on the latter. There was quite a crowd of spectators in the Courtroom. * O’nn appeared to be resigned to hi« fate, and received his sentence without a whimper.
