NEW YORK NEWS. New Yoke, August 15. The day panned without any disturb ance between the Orangemen and Re formers, though the entire police reserve was kept on duty all day, ready for any emergency. It is understood the Orangemen will hold a picnic some fu ture day ontaide of the city lirnita, where f|„) danger from intrusion will be leas. Twelve Twenty-Brat Ward roughs w *re arrested to-day in a house in 1 l.ith street, in which they bud collected for the pur pose of attacking the Orangemen, and committed for trial. Eleven of the Grand Park rioters have also been arrested and held for trial. I)r. Marcus Bery hailed to-day in tho sum of $2,500 for trial for malpractice consisting in removing the entire womb of Mrs. Fuller, an operation from the effects of which she died the next day. FOREIGN NEWS. Pabih, August 15. The Paris Journal Official reports the arrest, on the highway, of an individual in whose house was found a quantity of poiguard*. revolvers of largo calibre, and ammunition Ho was followed night Ix-fore last to an isolated house in the neighborhood of the fortifications where w« re found a list of names of tho mem bers of the Red Flags, different rallying signals, descriptions of troops occupying and surrounding the capital, and a carte de visite of a person in the service of the sovereign at war with France. <>u the afternoon of yesterday, about t o’clock, a hand of F*0 to Htl men, armed with revolvers and poignant* of exactly the same pattern as those previously seized, attacked an engine-house on the Itoulevard vi I latte. They attacked the guard with daggers and revolvers One officer received a wound in the breast, and a fireman was very seriously in jured by three bullets. Four guns at the station wer*' carried away. Policemen of the l'.»th arondisuient, who ran to their aid. also received a volley. One f**lI instantly dead, and others were se riously wounded. Physicians think that there is little hope for* the recovery of tw » of them. A little girl was also killed by a stray ball from a revolver. The po lice, led by their officers, under orders of commissary of police, immediately ar rested the ringleaders and four accora plinn. Paris, August 15. The Sous Prefect telegraphs to the Minister of the luterior from Toni, Aug. 11. at 7 n. m. as follows: Some Prussians were noticed near this town about 2 o'clock this afternoon in a reconnaissance made by the gen d armes and cavalry, who came upon , 200 IThUr4. Shot*, were exchanged and the gen d armes killed one and wounded three of the enemy. The latter were summoned to surrender, but defiantly replied to the request and retired. The attitude of the citizens is excel lent Members of the Mobile and Na tional (tardea have hastened to the rnui parts. Vo official dispatch states that the corps of Gen. Le Aduiiruult and Decaen were engaged in the combat nt Metz yes terday. Marshal Bazaiue was present. The enemy was repulsed after tour hours fighting. The troops are in fine spiiitc. l>etaiU of the battle have not been re ceived, but the first reports received last night of its favorable result created im mense sensation. Crowds went to the Minister of the Interior uml demanded the particulars of the fight. All night a mass of people marched through the boulevards and principal street* shout ing joyously. The Kuineror and Prince Imperial have arrived at Verdier. Advices from the Rhine indicate that the enemy does not really intend to lay j siege to Strasburg but merely to cut off communication. For this purpose they blew up the bridges and railway. Tou louse, thought to have been surrounded by forces of the enemy is in reality not iuvested, and the alarm of the people was far greater than really there was any The city is fully garrisoned and pro visioned for a siege and the supply of water is under the control of the nulLor ities, and can not bo cut oft'. A dispatch from Thiennl, .1 o'clock a. m., states that the town of Hitche has not lieen captured as had been supposed, but still holds out against the Prussian troops who have been detached to be siege it. Gunters says Victor Emanuel wrote a long le tter to Napoleon saving: ' I gave you iny word and am ready to keep it; but I must tell you that should I leave thily, I may never re-enter it.' Gunters adds that the Emperor released him from his promise. 1‘* Create admits that the mission of Duke Cadore to Denmark appears to liav*- failed, and refutes the statement of a Danish journal that the King had de cjined to receive him through pressure of England and liussia. La Preaae also gives up nil hopes of armed assistance Irom Italy, where Gaibaldiaus are doing everything in their power to turn the minds of the people against a nation , HO chivalrously aided them in their hours of need. A cable special to The Herald to-day, loth, states that disturbances of a serious character had occurred at Marseilles and Lyous. Crowds were collected in the streets, shouting : 4 lias le Emperor!' Iliree persons lmd been killed, and a great rebellious feeling was manifested, mid fears entertained of more trouble to day. German troops hold Pont a Mausson. rhe Press in all parts of France reso lutely denounce overtures for peace until the Prussians are driven from French soil. Gauters says: Droyn de le Hnys lias been offered by the Empress Regent, the post of Ambassador to Vienna. Pierre Hyacinthe has volunteered a* n private in a regiment for the defense of Pans. n circulation of English and Pane** j°an,aU bow prohibited in Private letters from Paris describe the Empress as sadly changed aud worn, by heavy days and sleepless nights. All French correspondents have re turned to Paris, uo opportunity being offered them to observe operations in the field. Letters from the seat of war notice that it is a practice of the Prussians in an en gagement to station sharpshooters on the j right of each platoon to pick off French officers. The Prussian general headquarters 1 last night were ut Henuy on the Metz and Kaarbruck railroad. The Prince ltoyal, for his victory at Weissenburg, has received the order of the Iron Grown. London, August 15— Midnight. Rumors have been renewed of the in- 1 tervention of Powers to bring about an armistice betweeu Prussia aud France; but they are scouted as chimerical. A special correspondent writes from Chalons, Friday, that all except military | railway trains have been stopped by Marshal Caurobert, who is back from Paris, and now gone to Metz, following liis corps. Mob law prevents military trains encumbered with enurmous quan tities of officers baggage, and supply trains are delayed. Veterans arrrived from Metz with Emperor's soldiers are meantime on one-half rations. Our special correspondence from Paris, Sunday evening, says the public feeling is more and more hostile to the Emperor; and it is oixtuly said that the Emperor will never ugain be seen in Paris. Peo ple express this opinion with energy, not fearing mom-hards; but * no surrender!’ is the general cry among all clasBcB. They call the Emperor an imbecile, and bis Generals courtiers aud traitors; but the strongest anti-Imperialists say, of course, the enemy must lx* driven out of France. fMisrrllaiirous.
