X oh la authorised to oatraot debts lor thU Company anion by tk written order of R,S.CsrwTJT. KKOORD PCBUSHUO COMPART. Pioche, Deeesabor tela, 17. EXIT CARLOS. Another of tha Inmbogs transmitted to ths prtMDt from former Urn b stout xptodsd. The dlvlns rigbti of Kings to livt ia pamperod luxury and dispose) of th Uvea, fortunM and liberties of their unhappy subjects Is about on iti ImI logs. Two of iti representatives, Don Carlos and tha Count Da Cbambord, ara remitted to tba positions they should oc cupy, that of private citizens. The re- iwspsotlvs eountrias that their preten ion hare troubled and euraed, have rid their territories of the hateful presence of these absurd, insolent pretenders and and mountebanks. It is also very doubt fol ii they will aver be allowed to again Tisittbs countries to which they bare proTed to be soon an unmitigated aril. Tba lata movement in Spain in support of the claims of Don Carlos affords a re markable example of tha folly of man kind and to which It seems as prone aa ever. It waa an effort to place a man in an elevated position, of whioh tha only result could be tbe degradation of his fellow countrymen, for which ha could not afford any possible com' pensation. Yet in spite of all that, hundreds and thousands of man sprang to arms perilled and lost their Uvea by the thousand, dissipate! their means, ruined tbeir oonntry, in- flioted untold misery aod sufferings and for what; to keep a man In ease and affla enoe who in bis sleeve lsughs at tha folly and credulity of bis dopes. These del Ions ara thank Heaven coming to an nd. People are beginning to find out that these im posters ara no better and as a rule not as good as ' those whom they attempt to impose upon and con trol. These mountebanks ara all like the Veiled Prophet. Tear the covering from their countenance and the villain ous deception standi confessed in all its hldeousness. This is tbe case to a great extent with tbe Spanish people, They have found oat what miserable nuisances Queen Isabella and . Don Carlos ara and'probably will not be long in making the same same discovsry with Alfonso. It is to be hoped thst tbey will speedily reach that conclusion. Kaanow and Ilusibal. The Virginia Enterprise seems to think that tbe Mew England States engross all tbe ability, learning, patriotism and high obaraoter of tha United States. Tba Enterprise la mistaken. It does great injnatioa to the nation of whioh the New England States form a very small proportion either in area or population. In the other portions of tbs Union are to be found millions who are mora than the peers of the masses who live in tbi New England States. Honesty, ability, In telligence and tha desire to acquire knowledge is, think God, not oonflned to any portion of tbe United Statea or the world. There are no greater in stances of suoh quantise exhibited in New England than in any other State. The expression by tbs Enterprise of tbs opinion tbat there ara is an Instance of greater illiberality and prejudioe than could have been expected from a news paper of its standing and ability, and we regret to witness it. Tbe House of Representatives cut down tha appropriations for West Point and the Senate raissd thsm. Tbe two branches of tbe National legislature do not appear to agree in their ideas of economy. It is noticeable tbat West of Louisiana supports the increased expen diture. There never waa a carpet-bagger in tha NatLaal or a State legislature that was not in favor of corrupt extra vagance and lavish expenditure. They think that some of tbe golden shower will fall tbeir way. T. W. Park who baa aoquired noto riety on account of bis connection with tbs Mariposa grant and tbe Emma awindlessys "it was hard for General Bchenok to live on $17,000 a year." Yes it must havs been hard indeed. No doubt he must havs prsotised plnobing economy to maks both ends meet npon an income of very nearly $1,500 per month. Of course it was his necessitous eironmstanoes tbat drove him to prao tios tbe mysteries of a poker and mining abarp. The Congressional investigation into ths Emma mine swindle is developing some very unsavory matters in which Stewart, Bchenok and Morton figure. The latter has voluntarily appeared before the Committee and says on oath tbat he had nothing to do with the affair. Aa he la a Senator of tbe United States and aa all the members of tbe U. 8. Senate are all honorable man, of course Morton's disclaimer should exonerate him. Secretary Chandler wanta an immedi ate and extra appropriation for tbe In dian Department. Tbe object may be all right and the money needed, and it may be the duty of the House to author ise it, but it should send special and trustworthy offloer to superintend the disbursement and see that none of it is psnt for quack medicines or otbsr squally corrupt Jobs. At Qou Hm,. a dirty beast named John Welch has been sentenced to ninety days imprisonment for exposing hla per son to the girls attending the publio .schools. Instead of ninety days launess nod being supported by the tax payers of Storey county, the rascal ought to havs ninety stripes well laid on. Tbs whip ping post'is the only proper punishment for such wretches. . Professor Tyndall was married on the 39th ultimo. That gentleman may know 11 about light and other scisntiBo mat tors, bat it is safe to bet that his better half will enlighten tbe renowned savan on many matters of whioh he waa Ignorant. General Pillow published a letter in 1 the New York papers concerning himself and bis bankruptcy, in which ha saya: I am without hops for tbe future. To be homeless, with my family famished, with gsnnt poverty staring me in tbe face at my advanced age, ' presents prospect so gloomy tbat my heart gives way, and the conclusion ia forced upon ms that I have lived too long." W. E. F. Deal, Chairman of tbe Dem ocratic State Central Committee, baa called a meeting of the committee, to as semble at Virginia City on the 35th Inst. The object of tbe meeting la to select del egates to tbe National Convention, or to call Stats Convention for tbat par- pose. By sn extract, publiahed in another place, taken from tbe Eureka Sentinel it will be eeen tbat the jury law by tbe Saprtme Court has been deolsred uncon stitutional. This will, it is sopposed, revive the old law. The Carson Tribune says that unless parties interested in coal mines in East ern States give tbe Central Pacific a con. trolling interest ths mine will not be of much use. Caose, tbs railroad will uss it in frsigbts. E. 0. Brearley, formerly District At torney of Lander county, bas com menced tbs practice of law at Salt Lake oity. - - It la proposed to name a new and splendid street in London after tbe im mortal Washington. Tom Fitch will deliver the oration at tbe Carson oelebraiion jof tbe 17th in stent. Tbe Gold Hitlers ara suffering terribly from tbe Blsck Hills fever. The President hss refused to allow Babcock to resign. NEVADA NEWS, Tbe Consolidated Virginia stock is not lo be oat up. Ths Manhattan Company of Austin shipped $84,211 in bullion during Feb ruary. Tbs Savage Mining Company are set ting in place a steam hammer weighing ia,uuu pounas. Colonel J, W. Grassy, private secretary of Senator Jonea of Nevada, died in Washington, on the 29th ultimo, of pneu monia aner a oner illness. Steel dies and shoes ars being exten aively used In ths quartz mills on ths Comstook. They are gradually so per seding the use of iron ss being less trou ble and more economical. Tbe Virginia Cbroniole and Mayor Cor ns are after the Comstookian polios with a sharp slick. It ia probable that the aforesaid pointed weapon is greatly neeaea. A Virginia aooial olub gavs a party and honest genial Dan de Quille, of ths En terprise, goes into conniption fits anent tbs toilets snd charms of the lady visit ors, At last aooounts nan is better and will probably reoover. Tha Virginia folks have formed an or ganization to take a hand in the next fight In wbloh tbe Chineee indulge. That melee will greatly resemble a fight be tween scnool-DOTS, in whioh the pedu gogue oonoiudes to take leading part. 0. D. Fitob, a mining expert, is en deavoring to inoculate the Comstookers with the Big Horn fever. It is probable he will snoceed, for ths folks at Virginia are aocustomed to take tbe biggest kind of horns. A " Horns Protection Association " is organized in Virginia City, The mem bers are going to look after tbe two Sings Ssm and Hop. They aay they Intend doing nothing but what is legal and right, but they want tbe Chinamen to regard tbe lawa also. Tbs Carson Tribune publishes sn item to tbe effect tbat tbe oonditon of Mr. Bollen (Grand Muster of the Masons of this State) is most eritioal, and that there were the greatest apprehensions of fatal results. Tbe Virginia Enterprise of tbe 1st inst. says: We are glad to aay that, in answer to a dispatoh aent yester day by Mr. E. H. Langley of tbis city, inquiring after Mr. Bollen's condition, tbe dispatoh in reply read: "Muoh better." Tbe Consolidated Virginia Mining Company yesterday, says tbe Virginia Enterpriss of ths 21st inst., shipped 107 bars of bullion, weighing over six tons and valued at $378,032.55. This is the largest single shipment ever msde by any company on tbe Comstook lode. Tbe Belober oompany made a ship ment of faao.uw, However. Tbe work of meltinn and assavine tbe large amount of bullion mentioned above waa com menced on Monday morning and finished on yesterday morning by 11 o'clock, there also oelng made daring this tims nil ore assays. This Is undoubtedly the biggest work svsr done on tbe Paciflo Coast in the way of melting and assaying silver bullion. Eaoh month about tbe time that a general olean-up of the mills is be ing made similar "melts" will take place. The Gold Hill News of the 2d relates aoowblding scrape at Virginia: Early morning a young lady entered the bar-ber-abop kept by Charley Berkman and, advancing to the chair run by Gus Ossen dorff, demanded a retraotion of some soandaloua talk about herself put in cir culation byOssendorff. This Ollendorff flatly refused, when tbe woman, drawing a cowhide from under ber shawl, let the gallant barber have it with all her force over the head and face. Ossendorff has been paying some attentions to ths woman, who bears a good reputation, and had apent ths evening at her resi dence ooly a few days ago; after which, for some oauee, he bad put some terrible slanders into circulation in regard to her character; hence, the retraotion demand ed, and the obastisement he reoeived at her bands. Al Peck has commenced suit against Miobael Castle, In which he charges that in 1872 he and Castle entered into con tract whereby Castle agreed to pay hi expenses to and from Virginia Oity, for the purpose of pointing oat to Philip Deidesheimw, at that time Superintend ent of the Ophir mine, where the ore body of aid min lay; and that if the ore-body should be found after nine months of regulsr work in the course Peck would point ont ss ths course of said ore-body, then he, Castle, would de liver to Peek on hundred shsres of Ophir Company's stock at tbs prios of $50 per share. Peek, the plaintiff, al leges that he did go to Virginia City and point ont to Deidesbeimer tbe locality of the ore-body, and that tha work was lor a time carried on as he directed it should be. But, he says, tbis wss done only for a few months, and then the miners were taken from the proper course and made to work in another part of tbe mioe. it violation of Caatle's sgreement with bim. Tbe plaintiff then alleges tbat in tbe Fall of 1874, tbe minora baviog been allowed to work in the course be bad before marked out. tbe body of ore was discov ered where be told Deidtsbeimr it would be; and tbat the new shares of stock ad vanced to and were worth on tbe market of San Francisco $350 per share, mak ing $200,000 aa the value of tbe one hun dred old shares of stock be wss entitled to have of Castle at $50 per ahare. Therefore he asks for $200,000 in dam ages. UNCONSTITUTIONAL. (From tbe Eureka Sentinel ot March I.) A Drivato disoatcb from Carson yester day brings ths information tbat tbe 8n- Jireme Court bas deolsred tbe criminal ary law, pasaed at tbs Isst session of the Legislature, nncoastitutional. Whether or not all of tbe judges con curred in tbe decision ia not stated, but ws take it for granted tbat Judge Beatty dissented, inasmuch aa be is understood to hsvs drafted tbe bill. It will be re membered tbat Judge Rives, of Linoolo, and Judge Bising, of Storey, among tbe ablest of tbs District Judges in tbe Stste, some months since, mledhat the law waa void. Judge iusinc, we believe. went so far. In fact, as to adhere to the old law, requiring all criminal cases to be tried In conformity with tbat statute, It is impossible at tbis writing to determine tbe full scope and effect of the decision jnst promul gated by the Supreme Court,' but there is reason to relieve inai u loaves ine State without a jury law of any descrip tion for tbe trial of criminal causes. In tbe absenoe ot the text of the decision it is also a matter of uncertainty as to wbat will be tbe status of tbs large number of persons eonvioted and sen tenced under wbat has been generally termed tbs struck juryl law. Certain it is at least tbat all oases wherein appals have been taken will be remanded for new trials. All things considered, we think it a subjeot of regret that tbe law bas been set aside. There can be no question that it worked well, at tbe earns tims proving a measure of great economy in counties of large area in tbe eastern part of the State, some of which hod hitherto been almost bankrupted in the trial of oriminal cases. We shall await ths receipt of tbe deoision with no little interest. NEW TO-DAY. Notice to Creditors. Estate of P. F. Davis, peceaaed. NOTICE 18 HEREBY GIVEN BY THE TJN denlgned.
