GREENFIELD L0D6E NO. 30 1CLU LUUOC#$l INSTITUTED w Greenfield Lodge No. 30, Knights of Pythias is now an established reality. The goat has done his duty and has been turned out to pasture to fatten up for victims that will ride in the future. In the history of Pythianism in Ne vada, there never was a lodge started off under more auspicious circumstances. In the instituting of the lodge some of Nevada’s most prominent men played a part. Thursday’s auto brought Grand Chan cellor Mackey and A. B. Stoddard Grand Keeper of Records and Seal and many other prominent Knights to Yerington to teach the novitiates the inner secrets of one of America’s best orders. The work of initiation carried the ses sion of the lodge through the night and well up into the morning following. At midnight a banquet was served at which nearly one-hundred persons sat down. The banquet was characterized by the absence of speech makingfon account of a desire to finish the work as quickly as possible. Grand Chancellor Mackey spoke very enthusiastically concerning the new lodge’s membership and predicted for it a splendid future. The others were as highly pleased as their superior officer. The treatment accorded the visitors and the degree team by the local Knights as well as the townspeople in general, made a good impression. They went away with the very best feeling for this camp which will naturally result in much* good. The following officers were elected to serve for the ensuing term: N. W. Willis, C. C.; D. A. McPher son, V. C.; W. Baird. M. of W.; McCoy Chappell, P.; Chas. A. McLeod, K. of R. and S.; E. R. Lain, M. of F.; G. E. Leavitt, M. of E.; Wm, Hatherell, M. at A.; F. Barnett, I. G.; A. A. Marsal, O. G. The following Past Chancellor Com manders were appointed: D. Lawson, J. W. Hanby, W. E. Hannon, D. A. McPherson. Douglas Lawson was selected as Dep uty Grand Chancellor to represent Grand Chancellor Will U. Mackey. Amity Lodge No. 8, of Rene, sent the following team to initiate the novices in the different ranks: Sol Hilp, Sam Rosenthal, Graham Sanford, T. Camp hell, E. P. Reanev, S. T. Levy, C. A. Davies, T. P. Dann, E. L. Williams, J. W. Wright, G. W. Perkins and R. W. J alien. THE BAND ENTERTAINMENT The entertainment and dance given last night by the Yerington Band at Owl hall was an unqualified success in every particular. The hall was comfortably packed and the audience was well repaid for attending. The band boys have made great progress in their playing and will compare favorably with any band in the State. Each number on the program was well received. After the perform ance the floor was cleared and dancing was indulged in until a late hour. Taken altogether the boys are to be praised for the outcome of the affair. Likes Yerington Ellsworth L. Brown, an attorney of Reno, was in Yerington yesterday look ing after some mining interests. Mr. Brown is an enthusiastic admirer of this camp and sees in its future a career full of promise. He is an ardent booster for the camp, likewise an attorney of repute. Peter Gugnina of Virginia City was in Yerington to assist in the institution of Greenfield Lodge No. 30. K. of P. Pete is one of the oldest Knights in the State.
