No. IX—Assembly Joint Resolution No. H in relation to suhinittinij Constitutional Amendments to the Voters of the State of Nevada. •( Passed February 3, 1879.1 Whereas, Section one, Article fourteen, of the Constitution of the State of Nevada pro vides the manner in which the Constitution of this State may lie amended; and whereas, at the session ef the Legislature A. D. 1877, the following amendments, to wit: Article Will, —The right of suffrage and office holding shall not be witliheld from aay male citizen of the United States, by roason of hie color or previ ous condition of servitude; also, amendment to Article XI, section 10,-os follows: Section 10 No public funds of any hind or character what ever, State, county or municipal, shall be used for sectarian purposes, were adopted; and whereas, at the session of the Legislature A. D. 1879, the said amendments were agreed to by a majority of all the .members of both Houses, therefore be it— Resolved, That at the General Election to be held in November, A. D. 1880, said amendments shall bo sutnnitted to the voters of the State of Nevada, lie it further— Resolved, That the County Commissioners of the several counties of this State, shall, in proclamations for the election of the various officers for said year, provide for submitting the amendments herein named to the voters in the several precincts in their respective counties. And in compliance with Section One (1) of “An Act to ascertain and express the will of the people of the State of Nevada upon the subject of Chinese immigration,” approved February 11th, 1879, which calls upon the electors of this State to signify at the General Election, to be held November 2d, 1880, their will as to the continuance or prohibition of Chinese immigration, by placing upon their ballots “For Chinese Immigration," if in favor thereof, or “Against Chinese Immigration," if opposed thereto. The character, size and color of ballots to be used at such election shall be four inches wide and twelve inches long, and printed on a good quality of plain white book paper. Which Election will be opened at 8 o'clock in the morning and will continue until 6 o’clock in the afternoon of the same day. J. H.
