Th.0 Biaok TT-»11g Stage Malies a Miss of it and Goes Into the River—Four Horses Iicst—Narrow Escape of Driver. •This morning about fiva o'clock the outgoing Black Hills Stage met with a disastrous accident on the river. Last evening a team broke through and was rescued. The driver was aware of the hole left and aimed to drive slear of it, but missed his mark. The horses plunged through the thin ice made during the night and the driver tum bled forward in their midst. It was a death struggle with him, but he was equal to the emergency and escaped. Three of the horses were drowned, aad the fourth one died after he was fished out on the ice. There was not suffi cient belp around or they woald all have been saved. The passengers were footing it across the ice and were not in the "break." The hind wheels did net go in the river. The mails and baggage were saved, and the stage as wall. Another stage was fitted out and after the passeegers took Jbreakfast at the Sheridan they were started on their wav to the Hills rejoicing. The luss was fully $6«0, as the '/orses were as g»od as there are on the line. IMPORTANT l]OTICr. ]ETx rraordinary and "Wonderful Bar gains. At the reception that was given Joseph on the 2ist, at the Sheridan House, one impressible and loving heart, overflowing with all the romantic notions that cluster around the untutored savage, walked up to Joseph and kissed the celebrated war rior square on his painted lips, and then presented him withher weddingring. The Indian general smacked his lips with satisfaction, and unlike his namesake of old, stood his ground, showing that he was no more afraid of the charge of a pretty woman than of the soldier on the field of battle, and that he could receive that of the former as gracefully as he could the onslaught of the latter.
