the garrison nnd fortress yesterday
afternoon. Five thousand prisoners,
including one hundred officers, fell
into the hands of the Germans. No
guns were captured. A round about
rumor, which comes from Berne and
Berlin, Btates that Garibaldi lias sur
rendered to ttie Germans. No parti
culars aro received. The report is
generally discredited.

Gen. d’Aurelles to Pnlndines, com
mander of tho nrmy of tho Loire,
wns received by the Minister of War
last evening, nnd Just given to the
public, is as follows: Wo have taken j
possession of Orleans after n fight of
two days. The aggregate losses in
killed nnd wounded do not reach two
thousand. Those of tho enemy nro
much larger. Wo have nmdo more
than one thousand prisoners thus far,
and are continually adding to them
as we follow np the flying enemy.

two cannon, of Prussian model, twen
ty ammunition wagons, and a great
number of vans and provision wag
ons. Tho hottest of tho fight took

by tho troops was remarkable. Gen.
Pnludines, on occupying the city,

army. Every position of tho enemy
wns vigorously carried and theonomy
itself is now retreating. 1 have In
