Among those who enjoyed the Loveland corn roast were tlie Klbbys, Ed Brown, Leonard Thornton and tlie Everitt brothers. Tina and Jasper Waggoner have • started to the Berthoud High school. They board at the Correll home, returning to Elwell Friday evenings. AULT Miss Etta Jenson is visiting Mrs. M. C. Todd. Henry Mead loaded a car of spuds for Belcher & Hodges the iirst of the week. The Baptist prayer meeting will be au tlie home of R. L. Pence next Friday evening. A. Ault of Fort Collins was in town one day last week, looking up the supply of wheat. The Ladies’ Aid society will meet with Mrs. Mattison again September 18 and finish tlie quilt which they commenced last Thursday. Last Thursday night some one broke into Kerner’s ice house and hauled away between six and eight tons of Ice. Nothing lias yet been heard of either ice or men. Ramon l’adget was nine years old iats Saturday and so he invited some of tlie little folks to his house in tile afternoon, and after playing a while treated them to ice cream and cake. He received many nice presents. One day last week three men were noticed standing in the yard at Chaunoey Frye’s place, the family being absent. When they returned they found that tlie house had’been entered and some canned fruit, jellies and apple butter taken. The men went to the house of Cornelius Brown and tried to exchange a glass of jelly for a loaf of bread, but nothing lias been seen or heard of them since. PLATTEVILLE Grandma Walker is very sick. Dr. Dißlngham lias purchased tlie John Stevens property. Adam Kersey of Denver visited friends in Plattevlile Sunday. Miss Viola Dennis has been visit ing friends in Denver the past week. Mrs. Inez Harvey of Leadville is visiting her aunt, Mrs. George Sni der. F. Hinds has purchased the Plot ner property in tlie south part of town. Reception for boys and young men on tlie parsonage lawn Saturday evening. D. Birkle returned home Sunday after a five weeks’ visit at St. Jos eph, Mo. Mrs. Grace Long of Denver lias been visiting her brother-in-law, T. A. Lewis. Mae Robidoux returned home Saturday after visiting several days at Longmont. Mrs. F. W. Hammitt had the pleasure of a visit last week from her sou, Frank Shea. The Postal Telegraph company has a large force of men here putting up polas for their new line. Judge Lindsey of Denver will lec ture in the M. E. church Saturday evening. Everybody invited. Miss Fannie Lycan of Longmont and Miss Bonita Hunt of Boulder are visiting with Mrs. James Lycan. Mrs. A. Morguu is enjoying a visit with her sister, Mrs. Mary Carroll, who came in Sunday from St. Joseph. Mo. Miss Hazel Stanton returned home from Greeley Sunday evening after a short visit with friends and rela tives. School commenced Tuesday with Prof. Packer, principal; Miss Craw ford, intermediate: Miss Sara Knowl ton, primary. Mrs. C F. Howard gave a surprise party to the little folks Saturday in honor of Harry s tentli birthday. All had a good time. Guy Hammit went to Denver one day last week to secure room and board, as lie intends going to the university this winter. About fifteen or twenty of Elmer Terry’s friends gave him a surprise party Mondav evening In honor of his seventeenth birthday. Packer, had her collar bone broken in one place and fractured in another one day last week. New officers were elected for the ensuing year, af ter which a social hour was enjoyed. At Die Methodist conference in Denver last week J. 11. The 2-year-old son of Charles An derson is sick with typhoid fever. Charles Anderson and daughter Edna went to the corn roast at Love land. Mrs. McCullough and daughters spent Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. Ford's. Mrs. Westenberg ann children drove to their ranch near Windsor Friday. Alex Adams of Kersey visited with Pete Lauridsen and George Adams Sunday. Charles Westenberg started for the mountains on Sunday, to be gone two or three weeks. Mrs. English received word last Saturday night that her father, John Montgomery of Elton, was veiv sick, so she and Mr. English drove over there Sunday. Mr. Montgomery died late Monday evening. THE DELTA Miss Mary Robb spent most of last week in Denver. John Thompson is to be employed at the sugar factory as welghman this fall. Mr. and Mrs. S. Archibald took dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Shearer Sunday. Mrs. Waite and Mrs. Archibald drove over to Lovealnd last Wednes day, returning Thursday. Mr. Clarkson’s had company from Missouri the past week. Mr. Thomp son. their guest, is from Kirksvllle, Mo., their old home. Mr. and Mrs. Foley and chllrden spent, last week in Boulder, returning borne by way of Denver and spending a day there. While they were there Mrs. Foley's sister was married. Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Robb’s sister, has been visiting Mrs. Robb the past week. She was on her way home af ter a nice trip through California. She was accompanied by a friend, Mrs. Pierre. Mrs. Campbell used to be a resident of the Delta, but two years ago sire and her husband moved to Upton, Wyo., their present home. COLUMBINE Bruce Franklin is In Columbine again.
