.EGG COMPETITION.
The totaf number of eggs laid dur
ing the fortieth week of the Interna
tional Egg' Laying Competition, was
1,894. ' This is a gain of thirty-six
eggs over the previous weejt s score
and a gain of 262 over the correspond
ing week of last year. The birds
are doing remarkably well to keep up
the production.
The best pen for the week was a
pen of 'Single Comb White Leghorn3
owned by G. G.. Yost of Sayre, Pa.
They laid thirty eggs. Three of the
birds, in this farm helped to win last
year s competition; the other .two in
the pen are pullets. - The second best
pen forthe week was a pen of Sin
gle Comb White Leghorns owned by
Tom Barron of Catforth, Eng. This
renowned pen laid twenty-nine eggs.
Two birds in this pen have reached
the "200 mark. .
There were three pens, all of which
were Single Comb White Leghorns,
whose score was twenty-eight. , They
belong to Smith Brothers of Adding
ham, Pa.; Ed Cam, Houghton, Eng.
and Frank A. Jones of Northumber
land. Pa. .

Weeps As Favorite Mount Is Led
to Auction Block
Denver, Aug. 20 Col. W. F. Cody
looked off into space and a mist came
over his eyea when he parted with.vhis
famous horse Isham yesterday after
noon. The horse is to be sold at auc
tion, the proceeds to apply on liens
against the Buffalo Bill Wild West
and Pawnee Bill's Far East Show. -
Buffalo Bill has ridden Isham for
close to twenty-five years and he is
remembered by thousands of people
throughout the country as actrida a
magnificent white charger. The fa
mous scout did not try to hide his sor
row at parting with his equine com
panion and openly wept as the ani
mal was led away.
JUDGE MALONE SUCCEEDS
IN LABRADOR EXPEDITION
Bristol, Aug. 20 Judge William J.
Malone and Dillon 'Wallace, both of
this city, who set out on June 20 for
Labrador to place a tablet on the spo
where Leonidas Hubbard died and to
definitely locate Lake Misikamau,
which was one of the' objects of Hub
bard's expedition, have succeeded, ac
cording to a telegram just received by
Arthur . S. Barnes, of thie city. The
message was sent by Judge Malone
from Indian Harbor, Newfoundland,
and is as follows: ""Expedition suc
cessful. Have been lost in the inter
ior of Labrador. Oit on foot. All
well." ' I

regular, semi-monthly meeting Mon
day night. The committee on base
ball reported that the team repre
senting the courtin the Fraternal
Baseball League had won second place

attraction, as these courts are closely
connected, ana in previous affairs have
