EPISCOPAL MEN TO
HEAR FATHER SILL
Master of Kent School Will
Speak At Corporate
Services.
Clergyman, Noted As Pulpit Or
ator, Is Member of Order
of Holy Cross.
For several weeks past there has
been a movement afoot among a num
ber of the laymen of the local Episco
pal parishes to hold a church service
designed especially for the men of
the Episcopal churches in Bridgeport.
So well has the idea been received
that arrangements have been com
pleted for a corporate communion
service of Bridgeport's Episcopal men
to be held next Sunday morning at 8
o'clock at Trinity Church, Fairfield
avenue and Broad street, when the
Rev. Frederick H. Sill of the Order of
the Holy Cross will be the celebrant.
An invitation is extended to all the
Episcopal men of the city to attend,
this service. Trinity Church was se
lected as the place for the corporate
communion service because of it3
central location.
On Saturday night, there will be a
preparatory service, for the corporate
communion of Sunday morning. At
this service Father Sill will also be
the speaker. The Rev. Frederick H.
Sill is head master of The Kent
School for Boys. He has spoken in
Bridgeport previously to this time,
and is regarded by the people of this
city as one of the most forceful and
appealing orators of the Episcopal
Church.
Next Sunday evening, there will be
a mass meeting of the men and wo
men of the Episcopal Church of this
city and tlveir friends at St. Paul's
Church on TCossuth street. Father
Sill will be the preacher.- The service
will begin promptly at 7:30 and al
ready over 200 men have signified
their intention of being present.
From present indications it is be
lieved that nearly 500 of the men and
boys, communicants . of the Episco
pal Church in Bridgeport will attend
the corporate communion service at
Trinity Church on Sunday morning,
as well as the preparatory service at
the same church building on Satur
day night.

CHORCH TO OBSERVE
PASTOR'S COMING
The fifth anniversary of the pastor
ate of Rev. Herman G. Wiemer of
the German Reformed church wlll.be
observed by. members of his congre
gation ; on Sunday. A special service
is being arranged in which the choir,
and the ladies' and children's socie
ties connected with the church, will
have a prominent part. Rev. Mr.
Wiemer is the ' second pastor the
church has had since it was founded
45 years ago. The first pastor, the
Rev. Caspar B runner, served the
church for 40 years. He died five
years ago while still in charge of
the congregation. Rev. Mr. Wiemer
was called by the congregation from
the German Reformed church in Bal
timore, where he had been pastor for
15 years. .
During his pastorate in Bridgeport
the membership . and finances of the
church has increased steadily. More
than $7,000 has also been expended on
improvements. Electric lights are
being installed in the church at pres
ent. A reunion of old members of the
congregation will be a feature of the
