The connection of the upper liiasissippi with Lake Mackenzie would be a comparatively easy matter and a vast amount or navigable waterway would he added to this river. The formation of Luke Makenzie would also contribute to the proposed ship canal tron: Cairo (illi nois) to the Gulf of St. Lawrence by the almost straight line which cuts the Wu! bash Valley. the Lakes Erie and Ontario, and the lower St. Lawrence.
