CiiK'AIIO, June7—There nrc reports of a ruin-storm of unprecedented violence, on Wednesday night throughout Central 11. Jinoift, doing immense damage to pro perly of all kinds. Thousands of cuttle along tho river bottom have been drowned. Many lives are. reported lost. Railroad trucks, bridges and culverts have washed away, and in the lowlands and Illinois river' bottom houses and barns have been floated oft' with their contents. Reports are tnragrc, as communication of all kinds is much obstructed. CINCINNATI, June B. A special from llellcfontaiue says a tornado passed over (hat vicinity last night, tearing up trees and unrooting houses. Tho town of Quin cv is distroyed. Fifty persons were injur ed at Degralf and ten or fitfeen buildings were blown down. The Methodist church is destroyed, an 1 many buildings unroof ed. Mrs. ltocklaud and two children were killed. They adopted unanimously resolutions con demning the Administration, urging the union of all opponents of corruption, en (lorsing the Cincinnati platform und nomi nees,instructed their delegates to Haltiuioro to oppose the selecting of a straight Demo cratic ticket, and to vote us a unite for the endorsement of (Ireeley and Drown. TAI.LAIIASSKK, June 11. —Tho conser vative central committee to-day appointed delegations to the Baltimore convention, a majority of whom have pledged themselves to favor the acceptance of the Cincinnati nominee, but. will abide the action of the Js.iltiir.ore Convention. WASAINUTOM, .June 9. —Those of the lii'liatiu delegate* now in the city nnd 011 their way home from Philadelphia, togeth er with the Indiana Republican Congress men, called last evening upon Vico Presi dent Colfax. Judge Denny, of the ludiana delegation, in a brief address expressed to the Vico President the appreciation of his invaluable services to the Republican party. They regret as Indianaiis his defeat at Philadelphia, and express their pride at his patriotic conduct in joining them in a hearty endorsement of the ticket nominat ed, their approval of his manly telegram to the Convention, and their high appreci ation of the honorable manner in which he conducted the contest. They added the expression of un opinion that if, ho had contested and made personal efforts in his own behalf as all candidates are permitted to make without loss of character or man hood, the result would have been diffcreut; and they concluded with assurances of gratitude, esteem and contidenee. The Vice-President, iu reply, expressed his pride and gratiGcatiou at the friendly assurances of th« delegation, and concluded with warm expressions of his devotion to the Republican party, wishing especially a decisive victory in October iu the closely contested Statu of Indiana, and said he should join with them iu November iu cor dially supporting 11. S. Grant and Ilenry Wilson for President and Vice-President of the Uuitcd States. Juno 10. —The bill giving the widow of Geu. Anderson ten thousand dollars instead of a pension was passed. The bill to re imburse Nevada 800,000 passed. A recess was then taken till 2, 30 P. M. The bill abolishing the franking privilege after the first of September passed under a suspen sion of the rules. A message was received announeii'K that the Scuate had concurred iu the conference report on the civil appro priation hill; the report was concurred in 102 to an, a party vote except that of I'arnsworth who voted with the minority. The Senate hill removing the disabilities of Vance and Houston passed. A resolution complimentary to the speaker was adopted unanimously at 9 o'clock and the speaker declared the House adjourned for the sec ond session of the *l2ud Congress. A respectable Salem lady has actually christened her daughter Dully Varden. —The collector ut New Orleans was in structed not to allow the landing of Greek brigands, said to be on their way to Amer ica. —A doctor named Doan has been con victed at Walla Walla of selling liquor to Indians and sentenced to the penitentiary for one year. —The Cairo Bulletin, the leading Demo cratic newspapers of Southern Illinois, has for Voorheers no softer nanio than " Democratic Judas." —The House of Rev. Mr. Eells, one of the earliest settlers in the Territory, was burned with all its contents one day last week at Walla Walla. —Southerners are circulating a fac sim ile of the bail bond of Jeff. Davis, " late Presidont of the Confederate States," with the signatures including Horace Greeley's. —Micheal Shea, of Vancouver, has re ceived a contract to carry the U. S. mails between Umatilla and Thorps' station in the Yakima valley. The distance is 170 miles and trips are to be made once a week for a compensation of 53,500 per annum. —Southern Missouri has been visited by a most disastrous flood. Whole farms in the valley of Spring river, Center creek and other streams, have been washed away, leaving nothing but rocks and gravel. Live stock of all kinds were drowned in large numbers. —Judge Lewia has made up his mind that he will not hold a term of Court at Colville this summer. The reason of this is, that since the new Indian reservation has been set aside, including the county seat of Stevens the Judge thinks he has no right to hold Court on an Indian reser vation. —General Wright, at the State Con vention at Atlanta, Georgia, May 30th, was in favor of abiding the action of the Baltimore Convention, but would support Greeley in preference to Grant. Resolu tions were unanimously passed by the Con vention favor of an alliahce with the Lib eral party. This is a index of the popular feeling in that State. Olytnpia contemplates the establish ment in that city of a museum. As a foundation, some euterprising citizen, pro poses to donate an autograph letter from Garfielde, iu which that gentleman pays Jeff.
