Entered into eternal rest, on the m miing of Satin day, February 16, 1895, August Vogel aged 36 years. The sad intelligence of August Vo gel's death cast a gloom over this com munity. Hut Tuesday afternoon he seemed in the full enjoyment of life. Same night at 9 o’clock lie was at t eked with paralysis of (he brain and never regained consciousness, not withstanding the best medical atten tion, and died at 3:30 o’clock Saturday morning, surrounded by his family and loving friends. His funeral took place Sunday at 2 o’clock, and was attended by a large concourse of people. The remembrance of his kindness, his lirm adherence to a sense of duty, which nothing could turn aside, and his devotion to the welfare of those with whom he was associated, en deared him to all. As a.staunch friend in time of need many will miss him; as a progressive citizen and one alive to the interest of his adopted country, no man w as his peer; as a kind and in dulgent son. husband and father, his place cannot be tilled. The Times extends to the bereaved family its heartfelt sympathy in this hour of their affliction. August Vogel w as born in Haden, Germany, October 21, 1859. Ilis edu cation was acquired in the schools of Xell and at other places, arid he then learned the trade of machinist, after which he came to America and located at Mansfield, O., and worked at his trade until 1881, when became South, making Forrest City his home. Ilis industry and integrity soon won for him the esteem of our people and he steadily prospered. On November 20, 1885, lie was married to Miss Francis, Meyer, of this city. He was a member of the substantial firm of Gray & Vo gel, dealers in feedstuff's, grain and lumber, and no man stood higher among our business men than August Vogel.
