Mi's Cora Pool spent several days in Wheatley last week. She has many triends here who are always glad to see her. Last Thursday a negro named Will Tay lor. sold a young liorse to Mr. J. C. Pool. ' The negro claimedjto have been burnt out, . and hired to Mr. Pooie tor wages. He was fitted out with a new suit of clothes, hat, provisions etc. On Friday morning » he had "skipped.’’ Meanwhile the post , mister of this place re-eived a postal de scribing the horse and saddle as one stolen j fioiu a Mr. Jarret. at Marvel. Mat Poole went to Brinkley and patiently waited , till the night train was about to leave, when he saw the negro attempt to get on. . He seized him. and, though unarmed made. , him inarch before him to the Mayor’s office, where lie obtained a warrant for for his ; Arrest. The negro was placed in the cala boose at Brinkley, bul was brought litre i on Saturday an a warrant issued by the .officer here, upon the charge of obtaining money under false pretenses. That night Mr. Jarret. who had been notified of his arrest, arrived with mt officer from Phillips . county, and he was carried back there.
