A very interesting table was printed in yesterday’s Arkansas Gazette, showing the number of white and black poll taxes paid in the state. The total while, with one county to hear from, is 1 f»0,81G; total black, 40,239, Marion‘county has 1801 whites arid not one black ; it being the only connty in the State which can claim such a distinction. St. Francis county has a total of 2737 polls, of which number 1375 arc white and 1302 are black, a ma jority in favor of the whiles of only 13. In Lee county onh’ 939 whites paid poll taxes, while the blacks number 2229. There are quite a number of other interesting facts to bo gleaned from the table, and \vc publish it next week.
