REPORT OF TJ1E AUXILLIARY BiMRL^ . To tho Hoard of Directors of Forrest City School District: Wo. the ladies of the Auxiliary Hoard, wish to make ©nr report for the school year just ended, At the first meeting of the year, the President appointed commit tees for visiting the school weckl)*. This we have dono, with various .interruptions, as best we could. Wc have found teachers and pu p>ls working harmoniously and ! irare been well pleased with tho progress of the school generally. In the High School Department, the continual change ot teachers | has retarded tho progress and tiampored the principal to some 1 extent. As usual, he has risen to the requirements, and has succcodcd fin bringing order out chaos. “Wc cannot pass on without mak ing mention of tho very efficient work of Prof. W’Ulinms. He as sumed charge of the school when it was in a most (lemoralixed con dition and in two years of his gen eral ship with the assistance oi his ‘ able” corps of teachers, has made it a well graded school, one of which Forrest CHly may well bo proud, lie has given to us our •‘first graduating class”, for which wo all give him honor ami tliunks. Now, let us not go backward! Forward, be our march! Wo feel compelled to urge upon ,thc Hoard the great necessity ot continuing tho Public School, while it is on a firm basis,-the best it has ever attained In the history of our town, realising fully as we do, what an irreparable loss it will bo to the children to lose the coming pine months, it will amount, at leu$t, to tho lo.s.<} of two or three years orj you might better sa}', to twenty years, since it has taken that length of time* for it to attain unto its present degree of excel lence. The Board have served the peo ple faithfully and well and have proven themselves equal to any i t\;ergeney in the past, that we can but trust, with perfect confi ileme, in their ability to raise the required thirty-five hundred dol lars, ($8fiOQ.OO) or any amount that they deem necessary for the main tui nance of the school. Wo submit this report, feeling that nt the first meeting of the “School Board’’ in October, we will be with you in a body, for the purpose of congratulating you upon having given to Forrest City, a Public School worthy of “The poard,” the children, the Century.
