There may have been some doubt in a part of the public mind a* to just wnat are the intention* of Jlon. F. W. DeRositt in the ct ru ing campaign, and since his return, many of his friends have urged him to declare his candidacy for the State Senate, knowing that this is the zenith of his ambitioRs, and that he would no doubt serve his constituency faithfully, to the best of his ability, and with lr or to them and credit to himself in that capacity. Mr. DeRogitt thinks the time en tirely too early to begin the po litical campaign of 1906, but when asked for a definite answer to the question as to whether or not be would be a candidate for that po sition he authorized us to say that he is a candidate, and will be in the race to the finish and will shortly announce in the usual official manner. This statement is made in order that those interested in his election may he fully advised, and that those who may oppose him may have no uncertainties as to what his course may be in the future. Mr. DeRositt will stand lor elec tion to the Senate upon his merits and upon his iecord as a membei of the lower house, inviting a jus criticism of his official arts, ant promisingto defend himself aguins the calumnies of his politico enemies. He rightly thinks it too early u begin an aggressive canvass, but hi also thinks it well enough to quie all speculation as to his intentions and but for these reasons would no now allow us to mention tin matter. Rater ho will address at open letter to ihe voters of the dis trict, in which he will define liii views upon the political issues o the day, and upon the conscientioui fulfillment of same he will stand 01 fall. W hen the proper lime arrives Mr. DeRositt will got into the campaign and make a persona canvass, and will he glad to meel in public debate any who may op pose him, and will endeavor to re lute some of the erroneous impres sions which certain unscrupuloui persons have lately undertaken u circulate respecting certain bill: of which be lias been the author aud of his support of other import ant measures which eaino befor< the late legislature, believing thai when the honest yeomanry of the county are fully informed am: know the truth, they must endorse his course, which has ever been it harmony with advanced civiliza tion, democratic to the core, and n the interest of the whole people.
