Mr. and Mrs. Jack Callahan lost by
death their baby b.\ Wednesday
morning. The remains were interred
in the Riley cemetery. They have

There are rumors of trouble brew
ing in upper Griggs township iie
tween the negroes and whites, with
tiie negroes as the aggressors. We
do not put much credence in the ru
mor. and hope it is without founda
tion. The trouble is said to have
originated with the shooting scrape
between Marsh Johnson, white, and
a negro named Frank Whitfield, in
which the former was wounded in
the forearm.
Mrs N. A . Kmbree, grandmother of
Mrs. L. II. Merritt, returned last Fri
day from a visit to relatives in the In
dian Territory. Mrs Kmbree is a re
markable woman. She is years of

was a persona, friend of the mother

“Fix me up something to knock the
malaria, doctor,” remarked a sallow
faced, sickly looking man, entering a
prominent physician’s office the other
day.
The doctor stepped to his medicine
case, took down a c< >up’.e of bottles, mixed

‘shake well and follow directions,’ and
resumed his seat.
