even cotton, but we had to plant the
cotton two and three times.
From the present outlook some of
the farmers of this locality will make
two or three crops on the same piece
of laud unless they do some tall hust
ling. provided they make anything.
The prospects for a crop in this lo

Heath of Lawrence Williams,
Many friends in this city and
throughout the county, were dis
tressed to learn that Mr. Lawrence
Williams, a leading merchant of (Jolt,
and well known and highly respected
I throughout the county, died Sunday.

His death occurred at his home
Sunday night from congestion, and
the remains were interred in the
Hughes cemetery Tuesday, in the
presence "f a large concourse of sor
rowing relatives and friends.
He was in years of age, and leaves
his wife and live children, all girls,
four of whom are quite small, besides
numerous other relatives and a host
of friends to mourn his death. He was
one of Colt’s best and most enterpris
ing citizens, and was foremost In all
public and religiouis enterprises. He
was a devoted husband, a kind
and indulgent f ither, and a thought
ful and unselfish neighbor, who will
be sadly missed.
The Times knew him very well, and
regrets his death exceedingly.
Messrs. Edgar and .1. 1*. Taylor, of
Little Hock, brothers of Mrs. Wil
liams, came over to attend the funeral
and assist their relatives in their sad
duties to the departed husband and
father.
