The minutes of t lie last meeting I were read, approved and adopted a> read: The Water it Light Committee, which had been instructed to investi gate conditions at the City Water it Light Plant, reported no progress, further than the discovery that new machinery wes needed. The Mayor and Marshal submitted their reports, showing that tines amounting to $89 had been assessed in twenty cases tried during the month, and asking credit for three of these cases who had been run out of town, two who hail dug out of the calaboose and escaped, and two who were work ing out their lines on ttie street, leaving the city due $59 in tines. Botli reports were examined adopt ed and ordered tiled. Mr. Crossman, representing tlie Forrest City Manufacturing Company was present to confer with the coun cil regarding what action was to tie taken in the matter of the note the company holds on the city, which is dueJune 24, 1912. The matter was referred to the finance clmmittee, and in tlie absence of its chairman, no action was taken in the matter. Mr. Roleson was present,and on be half of the board of health, of which he is a member, made a brief state ment of the work that board was at tempting to do. He said that, the board intended to investigate the matter of peddling of fish from wa ! gons on the street, it being claimed that this was a most fruitful source of contagion, and very detrimental to the public health. It was also reported to the council that the ordinance against the keep j ing of hogs in the city limits wa> being vo ated. and the marshal and I health tVcer were instructed to make la thorough canvass i f the city, and ! arrest aii violator s of t lie ordinance. Harry Landvoigt, a bookbinder, son i f the late !>. \Y Landvoigt, at one time foreman of the ruling de partment. government printing office, died at the Emergency Hospital at 11 o'clock this morning, after a brief illness of heart failure. The deceased | was unmarried and resided at the Arizona llotei. He is survived by ids sister, Mrs. Florence Haskins, of Mount I’ainier. Md.. who was sum moned to her brothei s bedside. Mr. I.andvoigt had bean complain ing for several days of wl.at lie sup posed was chills, but at no time up to tlds morning did he or his friends be lieve lie was seriously ill. The inter- J merit took place at (llenwood ceme tery in the family plot. The deceased was born in Washing ton and lived here nearly all bis life. He was educated in the public schools and learned bis trade at the govern ment printing office, where lie was employed for some time. Later lie went into tlie bindery business for himself, and st ill later conducted a i place for binders’ supplies on .Mb street near K street northwest. For a time lie was engaged with Die late Rufus H. Darby in the publication of. a society paper. He was foreman of Die ilaliou bindery at tlie time of his death Washington (D C) Star, May! 29th.
