LET’S RISE FROM THE RUINS
The flood that is now receding re
veals a staggering extent of damage
done to the property and roads of
Arkansas. A comprhensive survey*
is not yet possible, but it is full well
known that a huge task confronts us,
every citizen of Arkansas, in the re
building of the destroyed area.
In the rehabilitation of the devas
tated and the damaged sections of
the State the actual <*o-operation of
every citizen will be called upon.
Arkansas will surely show the spirit
of rising from the ruins, and it is to
be hoped that all plans will be for
bigger and properties than those
those swept away.
Time is required for the* total re
reconstruction, and team work is
needed as never before. We of the
Arkansas Highway Department are
fully mindful of the tremendous un
dertaking at hand, ami each individual
promises his utmost.
Our district engineers are making
a survey of the damage to the roads
as fast as they are left by the water,
and the big job of rebuilding has be
gun. Naturally the extent of dam
age will make it impossible to cover
the whole state at once, but we are
going to do our very best.
We earnestly solicit your co-opera
tion and indulgence.

used, first place getting five points;

The troop winning first honors was
Troop 1 of Osceola, Mr. A. W. Young,
Scoutmaster. This troop won a to
tal of 91 ’A points and was awarded
the grand prize, a fine parade flag.
Geo. Matthews of Troop 36, Blythe
ville, won first individual honors with
42 points and was awarded the Scout
Hunting Knife.
The three next hightest in individ
ual honors who were awarded scout
knives were Joe Rhodes, Jr., Osceo
la, 34 points; Howell Thomason, Os
ceola, 3214 points; Wallace Evans,
Luxora, 14 % points.
Other winners were as follows:
Howard Burton, Osceola, 11 points;
Howell Nicholson, Osceola, 4 points;
Walter Cox, Osceola, 4 points; Wal
ter Logan Blytheville, 5 points; Bob
Dean, Osceola, 3 points; Guy Ruben
