False Reasoning.
Suppose a machine should fail to perform

down ensued could anybody be blamed

people act and argue when the “human
machine ' is out of order, When the liver
is “torpid" and bowels constipated every

A pelicate surgical operation was per
formed a few days ago by Drs. Dickerson
and Stark, of the Surgical Institute, Kansas
City, which, for the success attending it. we
consider decidedly worthy of notice. Tin
patient was Willie Reed, son of Nathaniel
Reed, of Douglas, Butler county. Kansas.
The lad had lor two years past been afflicted
will) a diseased jaw bone, which, in connec
tion with the tinkering of unskilled prac
titioners, had grown so very bad ns to eh
danger the life of the child. Hearing of
tlie remarkable cures by Drs Dickerson and
Mark, tile child Mas brought to this city
and placed under their charge. Two weeks
ago tlie little fellow was subjected to tin
knife, and the lower jaw was takvn out, tlie
operation taking about twenty minutes.
Tlie incision was made at a point near tlie
tip of the ear. and extends I to midway tin
chin. The jaw-bone M as disarticulated and
removed. In per orming this o|>erntion tin
surgeon was compelled to cut around and
close to tlie internal maxillary and external
carotid arteries, to have cut either of which
would have produced death. This opera
tion is one winch only the most skilled
surgeons attempt,
